It worked for me and I see the difference in the COTM page. 🙂

LOL, no problem. 🙂 And BTW, Bad Robot is making a comeback. It just made a 9,126.36 jump to Malaysia! Happy dance!

Im pretty sure mud should be involved. 😆

I have some thinsulate gloves like the ones the puffins showed that I like for caching. I don’t think they’d keep me warm all day but they work for a good while if the weather isn’t ridiculously cold. They’re great so that you just have to throw back the flap to use fingers for entering coord instead of taking off the whole glove.

I know my husband would really like to participate in this!

I think that AuntieNae has done a great job as treasurer and handling the merchandise at most events and think that she has a very good understanding of the situation.
I do like the idea of opening up the store for shipping maybe shortly before Christmas as it is a time of year that a lot of people might like to buy gifts and support the WGA. But I think that the burden of carrying this out shouldn’t fall solely on the treasurer or other BOD, it would be nice if a group of volunteers could put this together. My suggestion would be to have the store open the first 2 weeks of December. Then a group of volunteers could get together one afternoon to put together orders to mail out in time for Christmas.

The Furry Hermit writes the best logs! That was great. 🙂 And a good warm up for the Janboree theme, too.

01/09/2013 at 3:02 pm in reply to: Looking for LCG stories and pictures for the Event Feb 2nd #1966914So I submitted a few photos already but I’ll share a story or two as well since I just can’t seem to help myself.
One of my favorite LCG experiences last year was going out to find a series of caches by Zuma in an Eau Claire county forest, can’t remember the name right now but the final was GC1JJQD. I’d sent out a note on facebook that we were hunting lonelies and kungfuhippie joined us for half of them. We were looking at double, possibly even triple points, can’t remember because it’d been so long since anyone had found them. It turned out that we were following Puffin tracks the whole way as they’d been there the day before so they got the triple points. We didn’t mind though, it was still a beautiful walk through some fairly untamed and beautiful forest land. One plus was that they had replaced 2 of the containers that were missing so we were able claim finds on them. The funny thing was that we had approached it from Eau Claire since we’d been there the past few days so when we exited to the east to head home we realized that we had been playing all day in a preserve that we had been driving by for years as it is enroute to our land up north. We had said numerous times that we wanted to stop there “some day”. How convenient!
Another memorable experience was heading out for GC23D9P, also by Zuma. I had an eye on the challenges out on the islands in Dells pond for quite a while, at least a year, and was working on completing them. I hadn’t even noticed they were on the LCG list! I waited to walk out there on a frozen pond but with our mild winter it never happened. We spent Mother’s Day weekend with my in-laws in Eau Claire, rented a canoe, and headed over to find the caches. It was so much fun and inspired us later in the summer to buy our own canoe. We also introduced a couple of family members to canoeing, they’d never done it before! Someone had beaten me to finding one or two of the caches out there so they had gone off the LCG list but that’s OK, the caches were great fun!

I can’t say why it stopped before but I know that I would be happy to help out with putting one out in the future. And I’m not just saying this because it’s in the candidate corner, I’d help whether elected or not. I think Hack is right, not everyone is on the WGA website regularly.

I live in a suburb of Milwaukee so the majority of my caching has been in the southeastern part of the state. But we have land and a cabin up in Taylor county and we have spent a lot of time up there. I love road trips so I’ve been all over Wisconsin, some of it pre-caching days. I love to hike on the IAT and have completed Mr. Greenthumb and Sunshine’s IAT Half-Trail challenge. I’d also really like to complete Trekkin and Birdin’s State Lands BINGO Challenge, I’m working on it. Long before we discovered geocaching my husband and I got into the habit of keeping an atlas in the car and then taking the “long way home” to see something interesting along the way. This has taken us all over Wisconsin, and all over the country too!
One thing I love about Wisconsin is how active the outdoorsy people are regardless of the weather. Geocaching has especially shown me how much fun you can have during any season. I’ve donned showshoes or paddled a canoe to find caches and always have a great time!
I love Wisconsin’s forests, we really have beautiful trees. I spend a lot of time visiting the Southern Kettle Moraine SP and have several caches there. You just can’t beat our northwoods though and I love spending time up at our cabin where the woods are a little more wild. The rock formations near the Dells are so amazing, I was so intrigued by the rocks in Rocky Arbor State Park that I was determined to create an EarthCache there. The coastline is beautiful once you get a little north of Milwaukee. We’ve been to Harrington Beach SP several times because it reminds me so much of the ocean and when my husband was stationed out in Monterey, CA except it is a lot cleaner and no salt water. And whenever we head west to visit family in Colorado on a roadtrip we take 151 across beautiful, hilly southwestern WI which is so much more interesting than heading south to the interstate – boring!
I am determined to make it back to the Apostle Islands this summer. I haven’t been there since I was a teenager so it’s time to show my kiddos that beautiful part of the state.

Aw, we cancelled our cable last year and usually don’t miss it. But I’d like to see this.

I have to say that I really love hiking in the Southern Kettle Moraine SP. There are plenty of caches down there to choose from. I discovered Collectables Cache (GCDB0), an oldie and goodie, because of the LCG. That was a great walk through the woods. I think I’d rather find the final in the winter too because it is hidden in a massive thorn patch! There are several other caches on the trail too. You just really can’t go wrong in that area. Happy caching!

I have only been to 2 CITO events but I think that they are great! Our family usually brings bags to collect trash when we’re hiking anyway as keeping our earth clean is so important. We’ve also done mustard pulls with our 4H group, no icon for that unfortunately. Also, many years ago I started the tradition with my children that in the spring we go and clean up the playground that is close to our house. I really think it’s great that so many geocachers that I’ve met have made CITO a priority and I would like to encourage this as much as possible.
