This certainly is a legitimate question. I know that I had to miss the campout two years ago at the last minute because of a sick child. If the same situation came up again I’d still stay home with the sick child and have to miss the event as my family is my top priority. But I have made it to most of the WGA events since I started caching, not all. If I were elected I would try my hardest to be at the event (already have the chili event, LCG event and the campout on my calendar!) but if there was a scheduling conflict I’d try and help out as much as I could behind the scenes. There’s always work that has to be done beforehand that I could do and send the items along with someone else. Fortunately I live in an area where there are many active cachers. It is very helpful that the WGA sets dates for events way into the future which makes planning easier. Now I just hope that the WGA gives me a reason to wear my blue hair at an event again. 😉

Thanks for the info!

01/05/2013 at 11:45 pm in reply to: First cache hidden – looking for expert advise and questions #1966683I have an EarthCache that I hadn’t realized had the same name as a nearby physical cache. I don’t know how I missed that?! But anyway, I had one person tell me that when they ran their pocket query and load up their GPSr for the hunt that mine didn’t load because of the same name. So while you CAN have the same name as another, you may not want to if they are nearby because yours may not get loaded and you’ll miss potential finders. When I realized my error I simply changed the name on the cache page and now I won’t have that problem. Good luck on your first cache!

As for interventions….we’ve found that wine tastings, art tours, music performance and practicing our own instruments have worked well to distract us from “all geocaching, all the time.”
Birding works for me, too, not so much for the other half of our team.
You will also find that pneumonia distracts you from that constant urge to geocache as well. I wouldn’t recommend it however.

Other open tabs related to caching (including maps, gps info, apps, forums, facebook groups, wikis, google searches, footwear, etc, etc…) = 43 on this computer, 8 on other devices/computers
For a grand total of (let’s see… carry the one…) 82
Firefox and it’s tab groups is a wonderful, horrible thing.
…And maybe I need professional help… 😯
And I think that dingoagogo is the winner! 😆

Oh boy HP2, you’re right. I was just thinking of one device, my PC. I bet if I looked on my phone and ipad there’d be many more. I think I need an intervention too. 🙂

That does sound like fun.

Maybe I should find someone with some ice-fishing equipment to get GC1V7TR.

We just got our first dog a few months ago and so learning all the rules is a whole new world for me. Thanks!

I found this link about dogs in state parks but this particular state park isn’t mentioned as being allowed or not allowed.

Anyone know if geo-dogs will be welcome at the event?

They had a big pallet of them at Gander Mountain for $10 and they were in great condition, not all rusty like most that I’ve seen.

Mine hasn’t moved in quite a while but I’ve heard that there’s still hope for it to make a big leap. 🙂
