Still waiting too. Wonder how they send them out?

Well said. I just had a cacher say I needed to give her a “good hint’. Then on another cache she asked for a “real hint”. I think a simple please would have sufficed, she didn’t have to insult me to get information from me.

Or lanyards? They’d have to be heavy duty enough to hold a GPSr though, of course!

And cgutzmer, I’ll buy better ones when my kids stop losing them! 😉

Granny, I lost your racer. See the note I posted on the TB’s page. There is a chance that a cacher will find it but I feel horrible. So sorry.

Guess I’m sorry I didn’t see your first post asking for preference of placement.
My first comment when I read email was: “blank”
              After I heard this multi is a 3-mile hike…
My second comment was: nice job sabotaging the TB placing in a Ranger Boy cache… which was likely to hold up movement for at least 5 months.
My third comment: oh well… if it was dropped maybe a cacher will find it before it snows. Or some kid will find a really cute “toy”.

Did WGA mention a “first to go lost” prize???

I’m sorry to hear about your lost TB. At least the cacher let you know about it, it may have easily just been unknown whereabouts if they hadn’t let you know. Maybe now there can be a search party of sorts. If they did indeed lose it at Egyptian Magician, it isn’t that long of a walk. I only commented about the 3 mile walk because the group of cachers at Minooka today did 3 long multi-caches, which would probably be about 3 miles. But as 2 of them are new (hidden FOR Ranger Boy by chevyole and myself and not some kind of diabolical hide BY Ranger Boy) and I know that there are several people intending to do them in the near future maybe your TB will turn up. There’s still hope!

Looks like a little chilly but dry. Last year’s picnic was pretty chilly too! Perfect for geochatting around the fire.

Oh boy, I really shouldn’t have said that. Just 2 days after I said I’ve never deleted a log for wrong answers then I am forced into doing so. Here was my email to the armchair logger:

“Hello, I have been debating over the right thing to do in this situation. Clearly you were on vacation in Hawaii back in April but this cache wasn’t published until late August. You did not visit the area with the intent of caching. I can’t even tell that you visited the area at all because most of your answers are wrong and you don’t even have a photo of you in the valley to prove that you were there. I want to maintain the integrity of the EarthCache program so that caches aren’t armchair logged and I want to make it fair to people who actually go and do the work to earn their “found it” log. I feel that the right thing to do is to delete your log. I’m sorry, I do not enjoy doing this. I may have felt differently about it if you had told me you visited the area before it was published and asked if it was OK but instead you lied to me in your email and told me you found it with your Canadian cell phone. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me again.

                      Beccaday”

So what do you think? Was this reasonable?

I may just be completely blind but I’ve been trying to submit a report on GC29HN8 Serpent Pine on the current LCG list and I can’t seem to find it.

Good to know about the PVC pipe, I have a cache where one of the waypoints is in one. It was kind of the perfect shape because inside I sewed a flag that’s on a dowel. Next time I get one of those moisture thingys I’ll run it on out to the PVC pipe. I have worried that someone will call the bomb squad on it though.

LOL! I wish I had that problem! Actually, every once in a while I do get the answers first and they wait for confirmation to log it. But that doesn’t happen too often.

I have never deleted a log because of incorrect answers and believe me, I’ve gotten many with incorrect answers. I just want people to show that they were actually there and put in a little bit of thought into it. I bet that a lot of EarthCache owners are like that so you shouldn’t be too intimidated by the process. It’s the no answers at all thing that really drives me crazy.

Oh this is getting so frustrating! I’m estimating here but I bet that 20 out of the last 25 or so EC “found it” logs I have gotten I’ve had to contact the finder to ask for answers. Come on people! Sorry, I just had to rant because this is getting frustrating. It makes me want to quit creating them.
