Actually, I think I’m going to have to cancel now. My husband made plans for Sunday that he just told me about. And those plans involve expensive tickets that need to be used. So thank you so much for the offer and I hope that you have a good time if more end up going. I guess I’ll have to paddle myself around the lake now if I want to get those caches instead of enjoying a nice ride on a pontoon.
Oh the woes of the short geocacher!
I am so excited about this! I’ve been trying to figure out how to get a canoe up there because I’d really like to do those island caches. Thanks! Will you be providing the life jackets or do we need to bring our own?

Very cool! Whether I get to do the pontoon boat or if I have to come up with my own boat another weekend I’ll get to your new caches at some point.

Welcome! And I like your geocaching name. 🙂

Just a friendly suggestion but it might be a good idea to let this topic rest for a little while.

I have to start out by saying that my husband used to be an arabic linguist in the Army. His last month enlisted was August 2001. I actually didn’t find out about the attack until just before the first tower fell because my one-year-old daughter had been watching a movie that morning. I spent the next few hours calling my husband every 20 minutes or so freaking out about the whole thing until his boss finally just sent him home. We both felt so conflicted. He felt relieved that he wouldn’t have to be mobilized since he’d just gotten out 2 weeks before but then feeling incredibly guilty because he had skills that could help and he wanted to help! After sitting at home worrying for half the day, glued to the TV, I ended up heading out to donate blood where I waited in line to do so for several hours. I was also very worried about my mom who was a flight attendant for United at the time. She turned out to be grounded in South Dakota somewhere but we couldn’t get a hold of her because all the circuits were jammed. That part was pretty scary! I’ll never forget that day!

Instead of typing out TFTC in the field I type out “more soon”. It’s short and lets the CO know what’s going on.

09/10/2011 at 1:55 pm in reply to: Please help us decide: Groundspeak’s Geocaching Android App #1953035I’ve been using it for the past year and I like it a lot. I rarely have problems with it. But then again, I bought it before I discovered c:geo, which is free and also works great. I am not quite as familiar with it because I usually just use the app from the groundspeak. I also tried using geo Beagle (I think that was the name) and Cache N Go and found both of them very confusing. I really like using my groundspeak app for spontaneous caching or if I haven’t gotten my GPSr updated in a while. The satellite image can also really come in handy sometimes!

Maybe these threads are doing some good because I’ve actually gotten some good logs lately. I’ve also ended up havingnseveral conversations following up with those good logs. 😀

I’m thinking we should plan on boarding 6:00pm, weather permitting. Plan on about 1.5-2 hr. I have 20 caches planted around the lake (3 very near my cottage – boarding site) besides the three islands.(these 3 not mine) Here’s easy directions: Cache site GC30BQD is on 259th St . My address is: 27179 259th (It’s on a dead-end, so easy finding) Please e-mail me @ [email protected] or call: 715-559-9987 if any questions. I COULD entertain a Sunday morning run also if enough interested…….say 8am ???
Ooh, me me me! If you do a Sunday morning run I would be happy to go if you have room for me. 😀

We have some property up there, about 12 miles from the park. It’s fairly rustic but if anyone wants to pitch a tent or park a camper up there you’d be welcome. We have a small hunting cabin up there but there isn’t much room for others in there for sleeping, possibly a few spots on an air mattress. There’s electricity, water, kitchen, a shower but no flushing toilet, only a pit toilet.

Bummer, I’d love to do that but I doubt that I’ll be able to make it up there in time. But I’ve had my eye on those island caches since last summer. Have fun!

I’m really looking forward to it! I’d like to meet more WI Cachers from the north. We checked out the park a few weeks ago and it was very pretty! But bugs galore! Make sure you pack bug spray!
