I stopped nominating because I was voting for the same cache over and over again and it never got chosen. Then that cache was disabled because of constant muggling. 🙁 I will give it a try again though.
Oh the woes of the short geocacher!
I will have to check it out. I guess it’s just a matter of perspective. 🙂 One thing I will definately say about Wisconsin, I have heard that we have better quality series and challenges around here. My Mom is constantly telling me she’s jealous of the cool things I’ve been doing geocaching around here because they just don’t have things like that in CO. Also, we’re definately tougher cachers regarding weather. I believe out there it’s pretty common to shut down all caching activity in the winter. But here? Eh, what’s a little snow?!

That’s really too bad. I love doing EC’s! In fact, I rarely log them from my phone because it is so time-consuming to type out all the answers and contact the CO. It’s really no excuse, they can be logged much later. Is it really so hard to make a note on a scrap of paper? Ugh!
I just got a note from a potential finder on my WA Rainforest EC. It is probably the easiest EC that I’ve created. There are 3 answers that you can find from a sign. They got at least part of all 3 wrong, which leads me to believe they didn’t actually read the sign they just looked at a map and said, “hey, I went there. I wonder if I remember the answers to this”. I have never deleted a log before and I’m hesitant to do it. But seriously?! I’m pretty easy-going with allowing the answers I got but they didn’t get a single thing right. Not sure what I should do.
I’m sorry that you aren’t getting the answers that you should be getting on your EC’s, birdin. But don’t stop creating them because I love doing your EC’s! The Effigy Mounds EC in particular I really enjoyed. 🙂

I only recently learned that there was such a thing as online code breakers. Here I had been doing all of them by hand!

I cached with the Groundspeak app on my Droid for a year before I finally broke down and got my GPSr. I have to say that there are things about both that I prefer. The GPSr is more accurate but not by much. But I really miss the satellite image I got on my phone. So basically, I use both which works great! I think the best thing about a GPSr is that the coordinates are more accurate for hiding the caches, which can be very important.

My first tick of the year was in March. That’s right – MARCH! I got it while on a hike in Rocky Arbor State Park while setting up an EarthCache. I couldn’t believe they were out so early! But thankfully they were just crawling on me and my son and didn’t imbed yet.

Congratulations! Have a great time. 🙂

I have had many, many experiences with ticks. The method that was recommended to me once and is now my preferred method to remove a tick is to take a credit card (or some kind of stiff plastic card) and slide it over the tick repeatedly. It will irritate the tick and it will pull it’s own head out. It then make sure the tick is dead, one less bloodsucker out there!

Huh, never even noticed that was there before. Thanks for letting me know. *runs off to update stats*

Sorry for the ignorance but what are you talking about? Is this on the WGA site somewhere? I guess I only know about the stats tab on gc.com

I made a homemade gizmo that I just finally took out of my caching bag. I had taken a piece of stiff wire and bent it like a hook so I could put it around a stick to retrieve those high caches. This is helpful for those of us who are vertically challenged. But I just took it out of my bag because I was tired of getting poked. It came in handy a time or two though.

This is good to hear. I have been waiting and waiting to hear back from a notification form for several weeks. I think I will go ahead and just place the cache and change it if I ever hear back from them without approval.
