We have had quite a few logs we haven’t been able to sign due to not having a pen, wet logs, etc but we always have a camera and I wouldn’t log something if we don’t have a picture of someone holding the container.
That’s what I usually do and I haven’t had any complaints from any CO’s yet. I just email a picture taken from my cell phone of myself holding the container to prove that I’ve found the cache, I just forgot a pen.

Thank you all. 😀 And thanks to Mr. G for putting out those awesome caches on the Ice Age Trail. Not sure how many extra copies I’m going to order. I was thinking about sending one to a friend. Actually, I just ordered a gift subscription for my parents. They’re taking my kids for a week and a half and they definately will need a thank you gift!

Oh, I may as well add that I put the following on a couple of my EC’s. Hopefully it won’t get me into any trouble with groundspeak. No one has complained yet:
“BONUS: We are no longer allowed to require a photo for submission requirements but you would make this CO very happy if you would take a picture of your caching team in the area or in the cave and choose to upload it. Again, not a requirement, it just would be nice. :-)”

I follow the EarthCache forums on gc.com and this issue has been discussed in much length on there. Basically, new caches that are published can not have any photo requirements on the cache page. Old ones don’t need to be changed but the CO can’t delete logs on the basis of no photo. For example, my Hall of Mosses EC was created before the change in rules and one of my requirements is to have a photo. I can leave the cache page as is but if people choose not to upload an image but still meet the other requirements then that is sufficient for a smiley. My Erosion In The Dells EarthCache was created after the rule change so I was not allowed to have a photo requirement at all.
OK, now for own opinion. Many people still upload photos. It’s fun! Plus, the cache owner went to the trouble of creating these pages and monitoring the logs (EC’s and V’s can be a little more work in this way) and I like to meet their requirements. I figure it’s the least I can do. Plus, I don’t have a problem with posting pictures on the net. But then again, there are plenty of people that do and are afraid of an invasion of privacy and I understand the need to accept that.
I have heard it was delayed again but I can’t remember the exact date. Wasn’t it mid summer?

That’s OK, your picture is better anyway.
Today i picked up a little plastic lizard from a cache. I may be attaching that to the TB.

Wow, all 50 states. That’s excellent!

Here you go. I think we’ll probably add something to it but haven’t figured out what yet.

NO WAY!!!!! John, you didn’t mention that my article was published. I can’t believe it! Maybe you didn’t see it. I just opened it up and there was my story. They didn’t even tell me. I’m so excited, I had to immediately come on here and post. How cool is that?!

I got mine today too but I haven’t had the chance to open it up. Nice to see a local in there though. 😀

Actually, I have a similar question. I hope you don’t mind if I hijack your thread goirish75. I am placing a cache and it won’t have any puzzle to solve and it will be at the posted coordinates. The cache will have a lock on it though and so finders will have to unlock it with a combination that will be on the cache page. Do I list this as a traditional? Or as a mystery?

I don’t know if this is the right spot in the forums to put this, it isn’t a geocoin but I didn’t see a travel bug section. Anyway, yesterday I got my free Geico Gecko Travel bug from Groundspeak. Anyone else get one? Now just trying to figure out what kind of goal I should have for it. ❓
I believe the goal and description are preset when you activate it. You probably cannot change it. At least that’s what the letter that came with mine said.
Ah yes, I suppose I should have actually read the letter instead of just skimmed it. 😳 When I activated it the usual page came up and so I filled out the information for it. Then after I completed the activation a form came up all filled out from Groundspeak. So don’t even bother typing anything up for it’s description or mission.

I was in LaCrosse at a conference last month. I didn’t have a car so I didn’t get to do any caching other than the one that I got to walk to from the hotel. It’s not great, just a park and grab and it’s not a scenic area. But if you’re in the area and looking for a quick grab it has a good container. It made me laugh. GC1DZ15

Maybe he’s going a little farther for his next Cache of the Day?

Congratulations John and Kim! Wow, we started about the same time and I just got 400 and you just got 1k. I think you’ve been pretty busy in the past year! Glad you’re having so much fun caching.
