I’ve seen lots of your pictures! 😆
I like my new GPSr, although I still pull out my phone for the satellite image at times. But it is definately more accurate and I like that. Still trying to figure out all of the features and best way to use it but I’ll get there eventually. I had hoped to get some pointers at the campout but then we didn’t get to go. 🙁 I also really like the fact that my middle child doesn’t really get into geocaching but since I’ve gotten the GPSr he has been more interested in navigating to the caches. Maybe he takes it more seriously since I’m not using my phone anymore for some reason?
Oh the woes of the short geocacher!
Oh boy, I don’t know if I’m up for a 5/5 without help yet. Actually, my goal is to have our #500 on our vacation this summer. We’re heading to the northwest for a week, a quick stop in Glacier National Park, and then a week in Yellowstone. I wouldn’t be surprised if #500 is some sort of EarthCache in a National Park, which would suit me fine. Unfortunately, I’m a little behind on my numbers because of this crappy weather and sick kids.

Ah, thank you Mr. G and everybody else! We had such a blast yesterday getting our 4/4 for #400. My daughter took most of the pictures. She is taking photography in 4-H and wanted to get some potential county fair shots. So look for a photo story about geocaching at the Waukesha County Fair from her. 8)

Happy anniversary and congratulations!

OK, ya’ll are going to think I’m just so fickle. It turns out I’m going to have to cancel after all. My daughter has been sick this week but seemed to have gotten over it in the last two days. Now today her fever is back and pretty high again. 🙁 My husband offered to stay with her but she says she needs her mom so we’re going to have to skip this weekend. I’m pretty disappointed because I was very much looking forward to this, it sounds like a fun event! She’s pretty sad too, she started crying when I told her we couldn’t go camping when she was too weak to walk to the kitchen. My boys are pretty bummed too but what can you do?
If there is anyone from the Milwaukee area (I live in Waukesha) who is going and hasn’t left yet I could drive and meet you somewhere to send up my night cache? Also, I have a cribbage board I was going to donate to Sweetlife’s auction.

Agreed! 😆

That looks so fun! Unfortunately, we will be out of town that weekend. We’ll be heading to Iowa so we can add another state to our caching map.

I sure hope so! I saw that article too and it gave me a good laugh! 😆
I wouldn’t mind a lamest night cache award either because as mine tanked I still don’t know what I’m going to put together. Mine just might be the lamest one there.

Well, when you put it like that I guess I HAVE to come. 😆 Actually, due to some crazy family stuff we had to deal with this past week, my husband’s plans are up in the air. I’ve decided I’m going with or without him (hopefully with) so I will be there. Unfortunately, my night cache idea tanked so I need to come up with something else. It didn’t glow! I researched and everything! Nothing like waiting til the last minute, right? 🙄

We had an experience with our GPS telling us to take a ferry to get to a certain restaurant for dinner. We thought it was hilarious. It was this dinky little ferry that ran about once a day. We put the “ferry avoidance” option on, then forgot about it. Then last summer we were driving around the Olympic Peninsula and trying to get to Olympic NP. You should have seen how long it took our GPS to try and come up with a route that didn’t involve ferries! We then had to turn the “ferry avoidance” back off.
My favorite GPS moment though was when we were coming over Independence Pass in the Rockies. If you’ve done any of those mountain-summit roads you know that there is only one dinky lane on each side and sometimes it even just melds into one lane total to get around a difficult bend in the road. You’re taking sharp turns on steep roads with switchbacks and hundred foot drop-offs next to you. OK, I’ve set the stage. So we’re heading down the pass and it suddenly tells us to take a right at county road D. What?! If we take a right we die, there’s nothing but air on the right. My husband looks over the side (I am driving) and starts laughing. There was a tiny deer trail where this supposed county road D was supposed to be. I figured I’d better stick with the road, even if it wasn’t the fastest way down. ❗

I’ve done most of the caches out at Lapham Peak State Park and I enjoyed them. It’s so pretty out there. Also, the Kettle Moraine State Park in Eagle has quite a few that involve hikes. I’ve done a couple out there but am definately going to do more soon.
Good luck, I hope you get some more converts to our addiction. 😆

I got this invitation too since I’m part of the EC masters. I would love to go! But I doubt my schedule will allow it as that is when kids are going back to school and so am I. It would really be fun though! Anyone else thinking of going?

I like your thinking Margaret! 🙂
