It’s hard to say when our family will be arriving. My husband’s job is so unpredictable but we will be heading up there whenever he is done with work. We wouldn’t be there before 3. Can’t wait to go to our first geo-campout!

Thank you everyone. I was just considering posting a request for recommendations but here is one already started for me! 🙂 I have been caching on my phone but need to get a real GPSr. I think I have been at this long enough to know that I am hooked and this isn’t just a phase so it would be a good investment. Thanks for the recommendations, I hope to make a decision soon on a unit so this helps.

I am not sure if I still qualify as a newbie, I just passed my year anniversary two weeks ago. I still feel like I am learning a lot about the sport though. This thread has me thinking and I’m glad you said something because I hadn’t really thought about it before. There are times where I have written a short novel for my logs but there are also plenty of times when I have done the “TFTC” only. Usually I write a couple of sentences. After seeing this post I think I may try not to do the TFTC-only thing any more. However, is it really so wrong on those caches that are simply for the numbers? You know the ones I’m talking about, like the film cannisters hidden in the guard rails in the city with no spectacular or historical view or anything. ❓

Way to go! I’m impressed by your streak. Every time I do a geocache I see your name just above mine. 🙂

Sounds like a great surprise!

Whoops, I didn’t do that. But you can probably figure out who I am because my username is the same as the email on my order. Sorry!

My kids were so excited that they could get geocaching shirts so I ordered one for each of them. 🙂

I got that too and it gave me a good chuckle. Can’t say that I’m willing to sell my house and all my posessions, plus take 3 weeks off of work for that trip, fabulous as it sounds. 🙂

How funny! I actually just submitted an article to them about half an hour ago. I have no idea if it was good enough to be published, we’ll see. I got my first issue a couple of weeks ago and I really enjoyed it. My favorite part was the picture on the back cover. If you want to see it go to the pictures for the cache GCTPDX. The cache container is great! I will have to check out the free online issue since that isn’t the one that I just got.

That’s great news! I think Virtuals are fun.

I just got the same thing. 🙂

I don’t have one for you but I will tell you that last summer I bought one off of Craigslist. Have you used that site before? I got a really nice one that hadn’t been used too much for more than half the original price. At that time there were plenty listed, you just have to check diligently until the right model comes up. Good luck!

Thanks for posting. I didn’t know about this contest. I enjoyed looking through all the photos and put in my 9 votes.

Thanks for bringing this story to my attention. I love the caches that teach something!
