LOL, you are more ambitious than I am BigJim!Ā  LOLĀ  I’m doing cleaning and laundry today.Ā  My house needs it!Ā  Besides, if I get this done now then I won’t feel guilty about going out to play on Sunday.

My hours have been cut since I’m quitting so I have some time to kill and a new cache just posted.Ā  But I just can’t seem to get myself up and out the door.

Like Renee, I’m not sure if this is directed at the current board members or just for those new to the candidates corner.Ā  I’ll keep my answer brief to give our new candidates a turn.Ā  But in the last two years I have been involved in all of the planning for our WGA events.Ā  Before my two year term I was involved in the planning and carrying out of several WGA events as well.Ā  I volunteer with many different organizations from church, 4H, my children’s school, work functions, family reunions and more.Ā  I enjoy doing this sort of thing and plan to continue helping the WGA members find ways to come together for fun and geocaching.

So are you going to tell us what the job is, or leave us in suspense?

LOL! Whoops, left that out. Ā I will be a teacher’s assistant at the Eau Claire Early Learning Center. It’s Head Start through the school district.

I was offered a job last week so I will soon be leaving the job I took a few months ago.Ā  I feel a little guilty about my short time there but not too much as they kind of misrepresented the job description and didn’t really need to hire me so everyone’s hours have been getting cut since my arrival.Ā  But I am so excited about my new job, it is just what I’ve wanted for several years now.Ā  Woop woop!

What an adventure. Started out by dropping at least 8 WGA racers in Paris. Looks like one got picked up and taken to Malaysia and is now in first place. Guess it helps to be the prez. Even the foreign Geocachers know this. We managed to add four new countries to our stats – Cyprus, Israel, Palestine and Jordan. By far, our favorite was definitely Jordan. We found ourselves at Petra (amazing and now off of our bucket list). Returning from a long, long hike, we were on coarse to find a geocache. Got within 525 feet and then realized that it was up – and I do mean UP. We were so wiped from all of the hiking we did. Roger looked at me and pretty much said, ā€œyou can’t be serious?ā€ Of course, I was serious. So we managed to negotiate with a couple of Bedouin boys (ages 10 and 15) a good deal on a couple of donkeys and began our trek up. We got about 2/3 of the way up and there were steps – and I do mean steep steps. The boys assured us that all was good and to lean forward on the donkeys. I was laughing so hard – it was all I could do – besides hang on for dear life. I thought for sure I would fall off. We got up a bunch of steps and then came to a place that looked a bit difficult even for a donkey. Roger was on the lead donkey and the boys again assured us, ā€œno problemā€. Well….the donkey tried as he might – and the next thing I know, Roger was sliding down this big rock on his ass….I mean donkey….who now was stuck in the crevice of the rock. Took the boys 10 minutes to unstuck the donkey. We walked the rest of the way up and found the cache in a cave and dropped three TB’s. A remarkable view from the top. Had to cross some scary planks along the way. But all in all, probably our most favorite and memorable cache ever! I need to post photos and then I’ll post the GC#.

Wow Marie, that is quite the story! Ā It is those kinds of shenanigans that make caching priceless. I am jealous, a few years back I read Queen Noor’s autobiography and her descriptions of Jordan were awesome!

I had met him a time or two but definitely didn’t know him well.Ā  But it was nice to see his TS’ers posts back when he was still active in here.Ā  How very sad for all who will miss him.

Kinnic-Kinnic… same thing written (and said) twice. Accent on the second syllables. Or just call it ā€œKinniā€.

Thanks, good thing to have a way to remember!

I think that I can bring enthusiasm to the party.Ā  I love geocaching and I love geocachers.Ā  I very much enjoy playing the game and going out and finding geocaches.Ā  I find that being out in nature is good for the soul and makes me a happier person.Ā  But despite this, I am not a “numbers” geocacher and have no problem spending my time at events helping instead of spending the whole time geocaching.Ā  I think I am friendly and enjoy being helpful and enjoy planning events and carrying them out.Ā  I think another strength of mine is my ability to get along with many and help people work through issues that may arise between geocachers, park staff, etc.

Hi everyone – Wondering what your favorite types of caches are

My very favorite caches are walks in the woods that involve a scenic view or natural feature.Ā  I always love it when something unexpected is thrown in there as well like an interesting container or field puzzle.Ā  But I find many different geocaches enjoyable and can appreciate many different types.Ā  The creativity of many cache hiders continues to amaze me and I love how people all bring their own flavour to the game.

and what you enjoy or would enjoy most about about serving on the board of directors. Thanks

I especially like all of the people that I have met throughout the state of Wisconsin.Ā  Generally, people are just so friendly and enthusiastic about their love of the game.Ā  Since we all have a shared interest it’s easy to find things to talk about.Ā  My first WGA picnic I forgot my paper products for lunch and wasn’t sure how we were going to eat.Ā  A couple I’d never met before offered us plates and silverware, another offered some other things, and we were set.Ā  We ended up caching with new people and had a great time.Ā  I also like being a part of the planning and watching people enjoy themselves at the activities that I helped be a part of.

Good to know.Ā  We head to MN all the time, I hope to visit Kinnikinic (I can’t spell it) again.Ā  My son told me that he thought the view at the overlook there was as good as any in hawaii or colorado.Ā  I’m not sure I quite agree with him but will concede that it’s a great view!
