Well, never look a gift horse in the mouth, I guess.

That could be fun!

With all of the holiday craziness I’m hoping to put the WGA newsletter out a few weeks early this quarter. That means it’s time to start thinking about what you’d like to contribute to this quarter’s newsletter. Here are a few ideas but you can write about anything you’d like.
*A day of caching
*Interesting things you’ve discovered while geocaching
*Product review
*Challenge caches
*An event write-up
*Combining geocaching with another hobby (photography, birding, cross-country skiing)
*How-to’s
*ComedyPlease contact me if you are interested or have any questions. I’d like to collect the articles by 11/16. Thank you for your participation!

WhiteEagle – this site is for geocachers in Wisconsin to talk about geocaching, meet up, share stories, play games within the geocaching game, etc. But to actually find out where the geocaches are you need to register for http://www.geocaching.com and sign up for an account. Then you will learn where the geocaches are hidden in your area (or anywhere else really). Good luck and if you have any more questions feel free to post them in our WGA forums or send me a PM.

Welcome to the WGA, I’m glad you found us. I look forward to meeting you at one of our events in the future. Don’t worry, you don’t have to say anything intelligent around here.

If you’re looking for a decent hike for just one cache check out this one that I placed with Ranger Boy: GC411C2. It was fun to place it.

How exciting!

I just had a similar conversation with Walking Adventure because I couldn’t decide if I should claim them as found or not. I just logged them as found but felt guilty about it. But mostly I liked the idea of having them as smilies when I run a PQ on the series. There’s going to be a challenge eventually (once they all get placed) so I wanted to count them as found. But I’ll admit I felt weird about it, I don’t typically claim my own caches as found. I do know people that do, I guess in the grand scheme of things, they’re just numbers and nothing of any real consequence so people should probably just do what they’re comfortable with.

Where is your racer? I have some connections for a 1k jump.
I have my racer. I could use a 1k jump.
I’d need it by Friday. Want to come down here and do a night cache tomorrow night with a bunch of us and give it to me then?

Good to hear! Now if you can persuade one time Charlies to not hide caches we probably would celebrate.
One question, what is permently attached to trees meant as.? Seems kind of grey to me and since I’ve seen birdhouse structures all over attached to trees I have to wonder what the line is so I don’t cross it if I were to hide one.
Thanks!Yea, I’m confused by that too. I’ve seen many things permanently attached. I didn’t realize this was a rule! But I can understand how an international company would make a rule like this. In Wisconsin our trees are hearty and plentiful but in other parts of the US, and I assume the world, this isn’t the case. My parents will often comment about how some of the stuff they see here in WI wouldn’t fly in CO because of the dry environment and lack of trees.

Thank you Dave and Becky for all the work you put into reviewing! And thanks for the update Dave, I hope that this will help with the process.
I really wish that Groundspeak would advise people not to hide with their smartphones. I think I have noticed this once or twice in the weekly emails that they send out in the 3 1/2 years that I’ve been caching. If you happen to start caching after those weekly bulletins came out then you may not see this advise for a long time and have placed in the meantime. I know that I was guilty of hiding with the smartphone and then having bad coordinates on my first hide. I just didn’t know any better.

Well that looks interesting…

I took coordinates for a whereigo and just haven’t gotten around to creating it. It’s so intimidating!
