Wow, we’re both trying to clear our calendars by next February 29th. At this rate, we’ll find that challenge cache together and I’ll have 1600 finds while you have 3200. (But, of course, it’s not about the numbers…) 🙄
Let’s see, at my pace 7K will be when I’m 85 years old.
Must…keep…caching…As one who is known for putting his hand in where no one has gone before, I say BIG congrats brother!
I’m glad I got a discussion going and got great insights from a lot of people. I was going to let the “saw the cache, but couldn’t get to the cache” logs lie until the last two logs for Der Schlechte Affe Geht Deutscher!
http://coord.info/GCRN4JI have found this one and while the elevation change is a challenge, it is readily attainable and even more so, you are warned up front that geocaching is an inherently dangerous sport, so don’t log it as a find just because you think it is too dangerous to reach!
Now I’m going to delete the logs because, “C’mon, you HAVE to get it to log it!” If you don’t want to/can’t do a higher terrain cache, then don’t try it.
Deep breath…Thank you for listening to my rant.
And YES, I have found all the caches at Lakeshore Park, as well as every other cache within 5 miles of the park. I’m now planning other places to put caches so more people will come into the city to cache.
(I’ve heard a rumor that Boyd and Boydina will have their much anticipated (re)union early this summer…!)
I’m in! Let me know what you need me to do. It’s on my calendar IN PEN.
Just kidding… 😳
Thanks Hacks for the kind words. Of course, without your timely assistance, this milestone would have had to wait for another day!
04/22/2011 at 12:59 am in reply to: Reasearch question on favorite cache, quality and awareness #1946797I like puzzles I can solve – the really obscure codes I have problems with, but that’s a personal thing.
I like all caches, but especially caches that bring me to places I might not otherwise be aware of.
I like the challenge of the find, so a guardrail is nothing special, but mainly because I have a knowledge base to build on.
I kinda hate nanos in the woods, because really, you need to hide something that small when there are all these hiding places?!
Bottom line is, I really don’t mind more and different caches because I get out and exercise my body and mind and I have fun.
I would go for a patch!
I don’t really follow the GC forum closely – it gets too geeky/purist for me most times – what was the rationale for eliminating virtuals – too “cheap”?
And I thought I was busy – but I’ve just slowed down from avg of close to 2 a day last year to 1 a day this year.
I live about 15 minutes away from the Fest grounds. I would be happy to help out on the project.

Whether you are union or not, the job benefits you have, have largely come from the struggle of unions. Look at the history of workers’ rights in the US and then argue with me.
If you want to go back to the old days (see working in the coal mine) then support our Gov.
I was stopped by the constables once in Maryland. Someone reported me because I parked legally on their side street and entered the wooded county park on the legal path to go for a walk. At least they were more annoyed with the person making the call and didn’t find a reason to cuff me, plus, they had “sort of” heard about geocaching. It was a frightening situation, though, to be confronted by two officers!
