When I lived in Maryland (Baltimore area) we had a real LIVE geo-cache thief – he was caught, but guess what? You can’t quite convict someone of the crime of stealing a geo-cache! (Has to do with the nature of placing an item on public property…
True life “mystery” story!
Oh, I was worrying I was bothering them! And actually, the situation I was referring to, the reviewer thought it was MKE Co park land and Russert told me no.
Thanks for the help.
A friend of my wife and I gave me this nickname (beezers) based on Brian, in college. Don’t ask me how she thought of it… The end is a code for my birth date.
Most people try to make it breezers, I’m not an air-head. 😛
I agree that bringing in new and retaining current are most important. If I could have voted for just those two I would have. (Actually, I didn’t try it to see if I could mark two choices…)
Wife can’t believe I’m doing this!
Experienced a similar cache thief in MD in 2008-09 before moving here. He was caught and confronted and the stealings have abated, but the “end game” on the part of the caching community was not as well thought out.
If I see one, I move one, whether or not I have one to trade. Trackables are meant to be moved and I move them in good faith to the owners.
There is public access and an educational center there. There are also several informational signs which give background of the area and local history.
I was thinking that it’s kind of like the bioretention Earthcache down in the Menomonee Valley – also a man-made feature, but ofenvironmental interest.
Not all Brownies are chocolate. Some are white girls in brown uniforms.
(Sorry, that was really bad, but I couldn’t help myself. I was having a Will Ferrell moment.)
Wow, I moved to Wisconsin from Maryland at the end of July. In Maryland we have plenty of geocaches, but most cachers with “big numbers” are in the 2-3 K range.
Now I move to Wisconson and I’m seeing people with way more than that.
My thoughts:
You have less weather/ ground conditions per year to legit find caches.
You don’t have more caches per sq mile than MD and the surrounding states (unscientific analysis).
Multiple logging of temp caches?! OH, Now I Get IT!!!!
I’m satisfied with my numbers – give me a break with the argument. Log once and then move on.
