Camper set up at Willow River State Park. Grandkids coming to visit this evening. Yay!
Maybe I’ll come visit. Heading to Minneapolis tomorrow, or in 2 minutes, today.
Took my eyes off the drivel too long. I’ve been counting souvenir inventory for the past two hours. Looks like it’s time to order some t-shirts, but we have 1006 water bottles!
Happy National Ice Cream Day! I see a stop at the blue roof place in my future. For now though, I am at Mead Wildlife Area until 3:00.
Yep, looks like only the Cache Rescue caches are showing up
Congratulations on the 5K milestone, Rod. It was nice seeing you and finding a cache or two with you after the event.
Drove down to Rapids to pick up a roll of paper for the Boy Scouts from TJS. His father passed away last night. I’m sure that prayers for the family would be appreciated.
I had an interesting afternoon, too. I bought an annual park sticker this morning at the park. I didn’t stick it on the window because I wanted to scrape off the old one and use some Goo-Gone to get the sticky stuff off before I stuck the new one on. While I was parked in the horse trail parking lot I got a “Ticket” from the park ranger for a) Improper Sticker Placement, b) Parking too close to the handicapped horse ramp, and c) Expired Vehicle Registration. I put ticket in ” ” because there was no fine associated . I just had to put the sticker on and then show up at the office to show them that I had done it. Other State Parks I have been to have told me that it was OK to wait to put the sticker on from Rib Mountain where the Ranger told me that I just needed to have it on by the next time I went to a state park, to Mirror Lake where I was told I had 24 hours to attach it. Oh, and my registration is not expired, I just forgot to put the sticker on.
Then on the way home I got a little careless with the gas petal and got pulled over by a Portage County Deputy for 70 in a 55. Of course he also commented on the registration, but when he checked it out he found that it was current. I told him that the sticker was sitting on my kitchen counter with the new insurance card that I just got a couple weeks ago. He actually laughed when I told him that I had found 4 expired insurance cards while he was writing the ticket. Oh, but the ticket was only $10 for not wearing a seat belt. Best result of a pull-over I have ever experienced.
No damage at our house, but lots of trees down near Milladore and crews working to restore power there.
Checked the trail cams today. I was a little surprised to find that I had pictures of a bear among the deer pictures.
Woke this morning to the sound of thunder, how far off, I sat and wondered.
The sky opened up around 8:15. Rained buckets for about 25 minutes. Now it’s lightened up.
It’s a 3 letter day today. ATW to ATL. Highlight will be finding Georgia’s oldest cache. 6/3/2000 Beaver cache.
I’ll have to put that one on the list for our GA trip in August … if we actually get to go.
Found cache #4567 this morning.
Mowing the lawn, working in the garden, and packing for Scout Camp today.
Got bad news on Bill yesterday. We’re going to have to take him to either Appleton or Madison for an MRI. The vet thinks he has shunting in his liver. Depending on results of the MRI it could mean surgery to correct. He doesn’t show any symptoms now, but over time it can cause seizures and other problems.
glad I reviewed my coordinates for Peanut Gallery. I still had the old ones corrected on the cache page. not sure where I would have ended up.
Private property with “No Trespassing” signs. More land that the paper companies sold.
That reminds me, I still have to retrieve the ammo can from the former school forest that the Auburndale School Board sold.
