My guess is that an average of 40 points a month would have put you in the top 10 for the year 2012. (Just a guess from someone who averaged 39.4 pts/mo) 8)

From my memory of the placement of that cache, I would say that it is in Adams County. But it is so close that if you wanted an ironclad determination you’d need to hire a surveyor. 😆

Question: For these ‘chopper mitts’, do you buy them sized per spec, or go up one size for extra room? E.g. If the size chart comes out as Large, do you get a Large, or XL….so you have the option to use an internal glove, and perhaps an additional polypro or other ‘stay dry’ liner? Thx ❓

I just get the frickin’ huge ones

If you behave, I can add you to the judges list.

              That’s a big if 😆

We definitely won’t do evil monkey or scuba hides, but some places that sound really neat to visit are just beyond what we are willing to try physically. Sometimes I think we have a mental block, and winter doesn’t help things. We are growing weary of P&Gs and want to go for more, but the mind says slippery trails, deep snow, wet feet, burning lungs, and stuck vehicles.

Each time we have a less-than-enjoyable experience, we seem to withdraw more. Like I said… wise or wimpy?

I have had caches that I thought were going to be really challenging from the info on the cache page or the logs, then when I went for them they weren’t that tough. Some of them were even among my favorites. On the other hand I’ve had caches that I decided weren’t worth the risk and turned back after starting out for them. I’ve found that you can’t really be sure about the the difficulty/risk if you don’t at least show up and take a look at the terrain.

My favorite Lonely experience of the year was the least lonely caching I did all year. I usually cache alone, but for GCGNRY, Marsh to the Phillipine Islands, I teamed up with a whole crew. In addition to being the first to find in over 13 months, we celebrated milestones of one sort or another for almost everyone in the crew. It was #2200 for me, and other members of the group celebrated #1700, #1000, #600, and #666. There are lots of pictures in our logs if you’d like to use them.

I’m from the central part of the state. In fact I live 17 miles from the geographic center of the state (GCPNJC). Most of my cache finds have been within 100 miles of home, but I do enjoy getting out to other parts of the state and seeing new things. I currently have found caches in 70 of the 72 counties in Wisconsin. I plan on visiting the last 2 counties, Kewaunee and Door, in February when I go to Green Bay for the WGA Bonfire by the Bay event.

Not to beat a dead horse, but as long as NWT is promoting his caches, I still haven’t seen a log from T&B on any of my Ursa Minor caches in the Mead Wildlife Area. 8)

OK, lots of questions, but I’ll try to help out.

Ok I just hidmy first cache and have some questions that are probably pretty basic but I need to know.

Are cache names able to be the same as a different one? I am guessing not but was not sure. Also how long are you limited to for name length?

You actually CAN use the same name as another cache. The GC number that is assigned by GC.com is unique. I don’t know of a limit to the number of characters in the cache name. There are some pretty long cache names out there.

I also was told there is an old way to enter them and a new way. Any thoughts on what is better worse or easier?

Either way works. I’ve used both and don’t have a preference.

Can I request a date it is released?

You can request that a cache be published at a certain time/date, but that doesn’t mean that it will be. There are only two reviewers for the entire state of Wisconsin, and they are volunteers. They do their reviewing as the have time for it. I’ve had caches published on a date that I requested, and I have had caches that were published before I wanted because the reviewers were not able to fulfill my request. GEnerally speaking, though, they will do their best to honor requests of this type.

Once it is released what can I do with it – meaning the management of it.

For instance how often do you check in on it? Or can you be notified of action on it or do you have to put it on a watchlist.

You don’t need to put your own caches on yor watch list. You will automatically recieve a notification whenever someone posts something on your cache page, whether it is a “found it” log, a DNF, or a note. You should check up on your caches from time-to-time, but especially if someone logs something that brings up a concern. For example, I got a found-it log on one of my caches today, stating that the log was frozen. As soon as possible, I will go check on that cache and most likely replace the log with a new one.

How long is it good to wait until releasing so that it is not obvious although this hide is pretty good.]This time of year I like to wait until we get a fesh snowfall to erase my footprints. Some people make a whole bunch of misleading tracks in the area of the hide, and others just go ahead and publish.

                            Good luck with your cache.

Looks like it is located in a city park, so unless the city has a law about trail cams I don’t think it would be illegal. As to the ethics of it, I guess that depends on what the CO does with the pictures from the cam. If they are just for his amusement/curiosity I don’t see a problem with it. If he plans to post them on the cache page, or elsewhere, then I think that he should state so on the cache page.

Why does your dishwasher need a toilet seat? (This must be some kind of setup…………) 🙂 🙂

Because sometimes when she’s done washing dishes, she needs to use the toilet 😆
