I’m in. I’ll be in Rhinelander that weekend, but should be able to get back by 1:00.
Congratulations on your 1000th find, Todd. Looks like this one was out of this world.
I don’t know if anyone else uses this one, I haven’t seen it anywhere else, but I’ve started using “WELL” for caches that I log from my phone. Will Expand Log Later

actually I take it back bigjim might have found the way in just it wasn’t as big as he could handle. mmmm I’ll have to go back and reread his log
I got scratched up a little bit, but not real bad. I walked in from the west, after finding #2, then worked my way north to the cache. Kind of followed the deer trails
Congrats on the milestone, CJ
Congrats on the milestone, BBG
But seriously, Ralph, I looked at your cache page and it doesn’t specifically say that one must find the physical cache to log it, although most people would infer that from the write-up. You might want to state that bluntlyon your cache page … “You must have found 100 earthcaches and this physical cache before you may log this as a find.” or something along those lines. As for our friend in Germany, just tell him “I’m sorry, but in addition to being a challenge, this is also a physical cache, which you must find and sign the log for in order to log it.”

Related email that I got today from a cacher in Germany who wants to log one of my challenge caches without actually visiting the cache, with the name deleted:

do i have to write a log in the Logbook 100 Earthcaches or is it enough that we have logged more than 100?
We have made a picture at every Earthcache… you can see in our Listingbest regards from Germany

I havent answered it yet, because I cant think of a polite way to say, “Duh, did you read the cache page?”

Duh! Haben Sie die cache-seite gelesen?

By the way… the WBCB is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and is not a WGA Event. We have a presence there and are happy to support it. The Sunday Pancake Breakfast IS a WGA sponsored event. You have our permission to race for the first pancake! 8)
Maybe we can arrange for a special “FTE” pancake (First to Eat)

Woke up this morning. So started out as a good day so far than checked my email wow somebody logged my caches on a week day. Than it went downhill. They must not have read the page I have attributes set but yet they went after it and than complained about the thorns and tics.
I wish i could say that i enjoyed the walk into this cache. It was torture. My six year old son and I had to find the least painful path to this cache. So after multiple scratches, thorns in our clothing and over 30 ticks we made it. The swag was nice which eased the pain a little.
Please consider moving this cache, there really isn’t any painless path to it.

Now I’m sitting here wondering if I do put out any more caches if I should just post the cords and not even bother with anything else.http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=ef6bf73b-d6d6-482a-bed1-c397dd0fb209
That was a great cache, or rather one of a great mini-series of three caches. I really enjoyed them. And yes, I did mention the thorns in my log, but not complaining about them, just sort of acknowledging them. I agree, ignore it.

Well said but why is there always a race for the ftf then?
That’s a choice that some geocachers make. I like an FTF as much as the next guy, but I try to use common sense and restraint. Had about 20 new ones come out near me last night, about 10:45. I could have gone out and spent a few hours caching in the dark in my tired state, but I chose to go to bed instead. Someone else stayed up all night and got the majority of them (all but 1), but I’m ok with that.

Ok, but I maybe wrong, I would think that most people do it the old fashion way. But again, I very well could be in the minority by doing that way.
No, I think you are right, most people probably do log their finds the old fashioned way. If I have only a few caches to log, I usually do too. But if I have a bunch, it is easier to use the field notes.

Word of advise for Poison Ivy….. take showers (if possible) after caching. Even in contact with Ivy, you do have about 24 hours to prevent the rashes and itching from happening.
I’ve always heard it was more like 10 – 20 minutes.
