I have some ammo cans in my garage. I may just have to set them out in the woods somewhere. Then maybe we can get you guys away from the guard rails and stop signs and out somewhere where you aren’t breathing all that car exhaust.

Yeah..writing unique logs can be difficult for a numbers run…that’s why I don’t do numbers as much as others do. I’ll take one cache on a 5 mile hike over 10 of them in a 2 mile trail any day.

I confess to copy and pasting on numbers runs. I feel that if the CO is content to place 100 film cans in sign posts, or even on the ground next to the post, and then copy and paste the cache pages, they shouldn’t mind copy and paste logs. If the CO shows that they put some effort into the hide and the write-up, then I will write more in my logs.

Congratulations! I did 65 caches today, 45 of them on the Great Pumpkin Trail. Saw your signature about 45 times. After 45 I was sick of them. I don’t know how you did them all and stayed sane … or did you? 😆

I’ll drink to that. I recently became aware of a cache that violated DNR regulations. I notified the reviewer and it was dealt with swiftly. Thank you WisKid and Bec for your many hours of work to keep this game going.

Changing from auto to hiking is hit menu, scroll to route options and then select your options. Be warned that the auto routing has a glitch where it can keep recalculating and won’t let you exit it easily. I really like the Pn-60 and the support on the Delorme forums is great and I’ve even created my own maps for it. There is a big learning curve with Topo and the maps, but if you take your time and read previous questions about it on the Delorme forums you’ll grow used to the gps.

I’ve found that if you just stop moving, the auto router will stop recalculating and you can switch to hiking or stop navigating altogether.

For me it’s seeing all the different varieties of film canisters and all the different places on a guard rail they can be hidden. 😆 Just kidding. I love going to different places that I have never been and never would have gone to otherwise.

Just got logs on 6 of my caches that all said “Awesome Find.” Now they didn’t say that they were awesome hides … and admitedly some of them are simple park and grabs. So I guess they were impressed with their skill at finding the caches.

                      Thanks, Yinnies,

I never knew about the hybrid maps. Looks better already.

Of course one of the goals of any organization is to grow its membership, and I agree that having a WGA presence at a mega event is a good way to get the word out. I’ve been to two Cache Bashes. but I spent most of my time out on the trails, so I can’t really judge the effectiveness of the booth at Regner Park. I don’t think that nametags are an effective means of promoting out on the trails, though. Personally, I would not wear one. I did wear mine most of the time that I was at Regner, but took it off when I went out caching. Something dangling from my shirt would just be a distraction and would probably end up getting lost.

I do think that it would be a good idea to encourage WGA members to wear WGA hats, shirts, etc. while out on the trail to promote the organization.

I got a PN-60 in May and once I got used to it, I’ve grown to really like it. One thing that I don’t like it that it doesn’t show associated waypoints, such as parking coordinates. I work around this by using my phone to look at the cache page for these. I haven’t had any problems with the road routing. You can turn the volume of the beeps down or even off if you want, but I find that they are helpful in alerting me when a turn is coming up.
