A few years ago I went to an Eagle Scout Court of Honor for a member of Seecrew. The crew had a multi along the trail that he had reestablished for his Eagle service project. Another Scout, BrotherRon, took me out and showed me how it was done. It sort of sat on the back burner for a couple of years, but then for some reason I decided to pull out my old Magellan that had been gathering dust in the closet, put in some fresh batteries, and go see what I could find.

Despite Helidood’s comment about my advantage on Marshfield caches, I’m really at a disadvantage for caches in the Rapids, Point, or Wausau areas. I’m about 25 minutes from Rapids, 30 min from Point and 40 min from Wausau. I didn’t get my first FTF until my 90th cache, which gave me a ratio of 1:89. I had 3 FTF’s in two days last week to bring my total to 14 FTFs in 366 caches, or 1:26. Should be picking up now that I have nothing to do with my days until September 😆

That is correct

There are two series, the Cache to Eagle series, and the Pillars of Scouting series. Not all of the cache to Eagle series have cards, but all of the Pillars caches do. There are 5 Pillars caches, one in Rhinelander (GC27TVQ), one in the Wausau area (GC25PA0), one in Medford (GC27RK9), one near Babcock (GC26KH9), and one near Junction City (GC27J07)

My first LPC was in Wisconsin Rapids. I DNF’d on it once and almost gave up on it the second time before I figured out to look under that darn skirt. I have placed one LPC and received comments that it is too easy, or rated too hard, but I also know at least one person who has looked for that cache at least 4 times and not found it yet.I’m just waiting for him to ask for a hint.

There is a cache near the eau Pleine Flowage in Marathon County whose signature item is a potato salad recipe. Looking at the logs, it seem to be a popular swag item at that cache.

My first degree was in Forestry. It drives me nuts when a cache log has a clue or reference in the cache name about “Pine” and the cache is hidden in or by a spruce, fur, or cedar. All conifers are NOT pines.

But, we could do some dutch oven cooking for sure!
Now you’re talking. When you combine two of my favorite things, geocaching and DO cooking, I’ll do my best to be there.
