No chili consumed: I did procure a bunch of WGA swag. I walked a multi cache with Big Jim. I found a cache that has been on my watchlist forever GC4VP2V_wildlife-travel-bug-sanctuary?guid=f0fe85a8-ead2-4839-ab75-e968dd8d792d#” >GC4VP2V . I captured a bunch of Gen 2 Pokemon. I visited the Kringle Kristmas shop (The only way I got Mrs. BBG to come along.) Good times.

Good times is right. I did consume a bowl of chili. Did not purchase any WGA swag. Also visited the wildlife-travel-bug-sanctuary. Did not see any Pokemon, but did see a lot of Pokemon hunters.

Congratulations to the new BOD members, and thank you to all who ran. Looking forward to another great year for geocaching in Wisconsin.

Sunny and windy here, with about a foot of snow on the ground.

For those not out searching for superb owls, and who have more of an opinion than “the team that scores the most points,” who do you think will win the Super Bowl? I’m picking the Falcons, 34 – 27.

I tried to vote today in the WGA elections. When I clicked to submit, the screen turned blank below the WGA elections banner (see picture). There wasn’t any message confirming the vote was received. Is that normal? I’m not sure if my vote counted!

That’s what happened for me, too. When I went back into the voting screen it said that I had already voted, so I assume that my votes were counted.

I’ve discussed with other cachers about WCD, and I know the ones posting here aren’t the only ones disappointed by him archiving his caches. Looking through his archived caches, of course there are some that are rightfully archived. However, I’ve seen where other local cachers have gone in and published caches using containers that WCD had left in place. Quite interesting if you ask me. Heck, I didn’t even need to use my GPS on some of these. I had so much fun and frustration with those gadget caches, and came this close to an FTF on Bank Heist. Is Call Box still active? For the life of me, I couldn’t put that thing back together after I found it. . .even after two PAF’s. Right Bartrod? I would say go after the Great Pumpkin series, not only are the caches great, but the scenery is beautiful. I would also recommend stopping for a bite to eat at Backwaters, which is right across the highway from the letterbox on that trail. -The Happy Hodag!

Callbox is the one I was talking about. It was archived in March due to a damp log, but has found-it logs through September. I’m pretty sure that the other WCD caches that were resurrected had Dan’s permission to take them over.

Here is the archive log from one of his gadget caches:

“I’m archiving it because of a wet log”

This was after a NM log that said the log was too wet to sign. Interestingly, there are Found It logs for 6 months after he archived it. Wonder if it’s still there.

This will strictly be a caching trip for us. We have most of the caches in the area but are hoping to hit the Charlie Brown Great Pumpkin Series in Rhinelander. Is it vacation time yet???

Looks like the series is still in pretty good shape. Just a warning, though, WoodcarverDan is pretty much out of the game. When he gets a DNF or a needs maintenance log, he usually archives the cache.

I generally log my finds the same day. I log almost all my finds from home on the computer, but sometimes I’ll log from the phone if I use it to find a cache. I also log from the phone for FTFs … most of the time. I am a couple weeks behind on my meeting minutes for my role as Secretary of the Friends of Mead Wildlife Area. 😉

Correct that the closest motel is in Mosinee (about 12 miles.) There are several motels in Marshfield (about 30 miles) Stevens Point (about 30 miles), and the Wausau area (22-25 miles). These bigger towns provide a lot more options for dining, etc. If I were booking a motel, I would probably look for one in the Wausau area.

Watching this new TV show, “Hunted.” Where would you go if you wanted to “disappear” for 28 days?

Now the sump pump is running. Usually don’t hear that sound from December – April.
