Congrats Bob! Awesome how quickly you got this challenge done. Looking forward to seeing you this weekend when your boys and I try to get closer to completing the challenge too.
Thanks all! Seems like only yesterday I was thinking 100 seemed unattainable. Now if I could just find a way to quit my job and become a professional cacher, life will be perfect.
What would Jeremy do?
05/31/2007 at 7:06 pm in reply to: Garmin publishes API library, geocaching.com new features #1875269I installed the plugin and got it working as well. I have a premium membership and also got the generic icon and GC number for the name. I will stick with loading to GSAK and sending them to my GPS using custom icons and names. It only takes a couple seconds more and it’s much more usable.
Congrat’s to you and your crew Zuma on the 21 FTF’s. That’s quite a number. The 15 you have for us is what we have logged but we had another 3 for caches that were supposed to be GC listed but have not yet been approved. Don’t know if they will get approved or not though. If they do it’ll be a bonus. We could have had a couple of more on Sunday ( I believe you bagged both of those solo) but we were headed home and too pooped to make the longer hikes.
Finding those two in the dark was a very impressive feat. Our group had a heck of time finding them in the daylight. The one 275 ft off was a lucky (skilled?) find by GeoCantrell. The one .11 off we needed to look up the coords on GC.com to get the right ones (again GeoCantrell with his web enabled phone). After opening the cache and seeing your group with the FTF we said “those guys must be super-cachers”. 😀 Way to go!
Nice job on the hide Gwyn! I couldn’t disappoint you so I went out tonight to make the find. I didn’t hear the Barred Owl call while I was out there though. Looking forward to your series.
This looks like it would be a lot of fun. Did you compete in any of the events, if so how did you do?
So Kent, to clarify for myself, on the 14th the caches will be listed on the GC site right? Where will the combined GPX file be available at? Will there be a new event cache listed on the 14th that has the downloads or will it be a different location? Thanks.
Looks like I’ll be doing some road trips for this one 😛
Nice coin. Thanks for the discovery!
I was able to get a few caches this weekend. I was in Las Vegas though. Much easier to find caches without 20″ of fresh snow. 😆
I used a 210 before getting my 60CSx. There might be a more direct method but I used GSAK to export a GPX file and then used the Magellan Geocache Manager software that came with the 210 to open the GPX file. Click the Save button to save as a .geo file. From there you just connect the USB cable and click the Send to GPS button on the toolbar to load the waypoints. It places the waypoints in a folder with the same base name as the .geo file you saved under the Geocaching folder (I think as a .gs file). I think you could also export a .gs file directly from GSAK and then manually place the files to the appropriate folder on the GPS. It’s been awhile since I did it but I think that is right.

As far as I know this one is real. There is quite an extensive thread on the GC forums regarding this cache if you want to look it up (too lazy to get the link). My understanding is that the Vinny an Sue team is well noted for placing difficult “Extreme Psycho” caches in their neck of the woods. If it’s a phony there are a lot of people that think it’s for real or they are playing along real well without making it seem ludicrous.
