Well the 1st weigh in of the year was this past week. As of today 1/11/2012 we as a team have donated 136# of food so far!!!!!! That is 13.6# lost this past week. Of course this does not reflect any team members who have not “checked in” with their weigh in yet this week. I will try to post on Saturdays keeping you all informed about how we are doing.

    Total #’s of food pledged=2960
Total #’s of food donated this week= 136
    Total #’s of food donated todate= 136
Weight lost this week (all team members checking in)= 13.6#
Weight lost todate (all team members checking in)= 13.6#

We are off to a GREAT start.
    THANKS SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!

I haven’t heard of any of the food banks on the sign up page….. Are any of them in the Wausau area?

I wish there were a few local food pantrys in our area that would be on the list.
I couldnt find any local to the Wis Rapids/ ST Point area so I selected “Central Wi CAC Adams food pantry”. You could choose any one you want. If I didnt choose the 1 I did I would have chosen the “Salvation Army Food Pantry” Sorry I can not be more of a help with this question.

Since the Princeton Club is organizing this, and they are based in Madison with two clubs there and only one other club in the state (New Berlin), I would assume that the lack of local food pantries listed for the other parts of the state is because of where the Princeton Clubs are located. You can choose an organization such as Second Harvest or others that are not so regional, or just choose a group that appeals to you.

Becky, I did not see the Central WI CAC listing for Adams County when I signed up, so I tried to change it. This can be done, but I had to send an email to the guy in charge (this question is asked and answered on the web site). It appears to be no problem now, but once pounds of food are being earned for a group, it’s harder to switch. I’ll let you know how my attempt is handled.

    Thanks Pat.

I just received am email from the Princeton Club about food donated by weight loss vs exercise. Each person participating gets to choose whether they want to commit to exercise or weight loss. Food will be donated which ever way they decide to go. So if you would like to exercise then weight loss by all means go ahead. If you are on a team it will help either way. I hope this clears up how food is donated.

Great idea to get us motivated and donating to a good cause.

I was signing up and noticed that you can select exercise time instead of weight loss – 10 pounds food donated per hour of exercise rather than per pound of weight lost. It seems to me that I could donate a lot more food by using exercise rather than weight, and I see the Wisconsin Geocachers listed as a team for exercise, too.

I guess my question is – are you going to see how we stand compared to other teams based on food donated, or based on weight lost? If by weight lost I stay on that program, but if by food donated I’ll switch to exercise. Thanks.

I just wrote an email to the Princeton Club ask them if it is the total food donated with exercise AND weight loss or is it just for weight loss.

On the Wisconsin Geocaching team page for exercising does it have a list of members for that team? If my name (blue cougar) is on it then it is for both weight loss & exercising & will be the total of food donated. I will let you know as soon as I find out for sure.

OK Here is the information for the Million Pound Challenge.
    You must sign yourself up.
The MILLION POUND CHALLENGE starts JANUARY 1 2012 butyou can sign up ANYTIME before it starts or after it starts.

    Go to: http://www.princetonclub.net/mpc

From their homepage click on “Sign up”.
Fill in the usual information…if you do want to put in your phone number just use a fake 1.

When you get to the spot….”Do you want to join a team?” click YES.
From the list off the teams look for “WISCONSIN GEOCACHERS” & click on that one.

Next you will have the chance to choose what food bank you want your loss donation to go to. If you do not see a food bank from your area just choose any food bank you would like to help.

For those who do not want to have their weigh broadcasted on here it will not be shown on any page but YOUR OWN profile page. However the amont of weight you lose (ex. 5# or 1 1/2#) will be shown in the total for the WHOLE GROUP.
You will see your name as well as your email address on the team’s home page.
As of 2pm 12/7/11 Team Wisconsin Geocachers is not on the list shown HOWEVER it is registered & is on the list of teams to choose from. After this gets going our team will be displayed by rank (total #’s lost). I will keep you updated weekly after the challenge starts as to where our team stands with other teams.

    Any questions email me ok???

Any of you who have mentioned you want to sign up or are interested in signing up I will be messaging you thru here later but for now it is nap time lol

Nope. Just plan for the extra calories that day, VG.

I did this last year, and it went from January to May, I think. It’s all on the honor system. You give them your starting weight, and each week you log in at about the same time to record a new weight. Sometimes I was up, sometimes down. No one online sees your weight. I think I lost maybe 15 pounds during this time, but I had to kick it into high gear towards the end. The weather was nicer by then to do more stuff outside.

Put me on the list, Becky.

Got you on the list Pat !!!!

Or you can still attend the Sweet Treat Meet & Great. I will give your treat to Kevin lol. Pat was right….just plan for the extra calories. I do that all the time to stay on plan.

I’m thinking about it – when is your deadline for joining your team? I really don’t have much weight to loose – maybe 5 pounds. I lost 60 pounds (Weight Watchers) since late 2007 and feel great. I need to read the information on the program some more before making the final decision…

I am planning on signing up the team on December 30th but you can join after the team has been formed. The challenge starts January 1 2012. I am on weight watchers also since July 2010 & have lost 70#. My orthopedic doctor told me to lose another 40# before my hip replacement…..he wanted it gone by this past October…..didnt happen. So this will give me (i hope) the extra push I need to lose the 40#. 1 pound lost = 10 pounds food donated so EVERY little pound adds up.
