February 28, 2002. First three caches found right after an 8-inch snowstorm.

Keep in mind that some folks might be cat haters and take offense to an event help for non-canines.
….(but not to those darn cats — they really should suck it up and get jobs)
Are you sure you aren’t really Cathunter? We haven’t heard from him in a long time and I don’t believe I’ve ever seen the two of you in the same place. 🙂
Do you have it for both Friday and Saturday night, or just Saturday?
Please note, firewood can only be brought from within 50 miles of the park.
I have many downed trees but no cut firewood, or I would bring some.
FYI – I’m not a complete idiot (only partial). I started my post above before Ralph submitted his post, ” Picnic Committee Named”.
It is interesting to me that this isn’t a sticky topic either here or at the Picnic forum.
I haven’t been added to the Picnic Committee forum yet (I told zuma I’d join through PM so I understand why it hasn’t happened yet) but looking at the activity on that forum I guess I’m not missing anything.
What’s up? Should we make the picnic part of the Cash Bash as a side event instead of its own event? Is it because the picnic is more than a 3-hour drive from Milwaukee?
I *had* noticed that the group sites were reserved. Glad I didn’t make my reservation last night. Now I just have to hope I qualify as a “cool” person.
I thought about changing mine, since I could also be a salad (the alphabet split is different on the signup and the event page) but I know that some people really like the sweet part of the event – right Jeremy? If jthorson doesn’t come I could try to replicate his M&M salad. It is his special recipe but I would try my best.
Congratulations!

Agreeing with some others, without reading all response before replying…
No goals. other than to be outside.
I wouldn’t have a clue. I tend to forget to log them. However, it certainly isn’t very many since I don’t have much time for geocaching anymore. In another year I’ll only have one child’s activities to be involved in so hopefully my time in the woods will be increased.
I’m not puzzle crazy, although I do like logic puzzles (occupational hazard). I think puzzle caches would be more appropriate at the campout. Give out the puzzle info on Friday night and let it be part of the campfire conversation. I think this might even get more people interested in puzzles, since they could get hints on how to solve them.
I didn’t spend much time at the picnic so I also didn’t spend any time solving the puzzles. My son did the beehive for us, but only because it was in the area of the other caches we did. (And, for the purists, that was also a puzzle I could have done.)

Been mulling it over, and decided I will post accurate D/T ratings for these caches.
Thank you.
Just my opinion, but I don’t think it is right to list a regular cache as a 1/1 when it isn’t. If it was marked as a puzzle cache then that would provide the hint that it isn’t what it appears to be.

I was thinking of doing something with my 12-year-old daughter this weekend before I spend the next 1.5 months with my son and the marching band. I was going to go to Ladysmith, but this sounds intriguing. I looked quickly at the event page but I have some clarifying questions.
– It looks like there are stories told all day long. Is that correct?
– What are “children’s activities” and are they more for young kids or multiple ages?
– The adult cabaret is not recommended for anyone under 18. Is it really that bad or more just a CYA to keep people from being offended.
– If I did this, is it entertaining enough that this is all I’d do, or should I plan on geocaching, too?
– If I geocache, does anyone have a bookmark list of fun, but not ridiculously challenging, caches in the La Crosse area? Thanks.
