My legend is on the fritz. Rubber around edge is torn and held together with black electrical tape. Screen goes blank or gets funny lines on it from time to time.
Must be a common Legend problem. You’ve described mine exactly (except for the electrical tape.)
Your GPSr should be able to handle three coord formats:
h ddd.ddddd° (degrees-decimal)
h ddd° mm.mmm’ (degrees minutes-decimal)
h ddd° mm’ ss.s” (degrees minutes seconds-decimal)You should be able to enter in the coords for a waypoint in one format and then switch the GPSr to the other format.
The coords on geocaching.com are in (h ddd° mm.mmm’) – degree, minutes in decimal format.
h ddd.ddddd° is the position entirely in degrees – the minutes being represented by the fraction of degree.
h ddd° mm’ ss.s” is the position in degrees, minutes and seconds.
There are 60 minutes in a degree, 60 seconds in a minute.
These are all equivalent:
58° 39.225
58° 39 13.5
58.65375°58.65375 degrees = 58° and (.65375 x 60 minutes)= 58° 39.225′
and
39.225 minutes = 39 minutes and (.225 x 60 seconds) = 39′ 13.5″To go the other way:
58° 39.225 => 58 and 39.225/60=.65375 -> 58.65375
58° 39′ 13.5″ => 58 and 39 and 13.5/60 = .225 -> 58° 39.225(If I did anything stupid here then at least I have an excuse for my DNF’s.)

Stirring up a hornet’s nest sometimes can cause the Board to jump into action… in some cases without this public prodding they’d be inclined to sit on their hands.
You must have been a fun child to parent. 😀
Speaking as a parent, sometimes stirring a hornets nest causes people to retreat. It is often better to gently stir a suggestion than to boil it over and burn it up on the fire. If my child is purposely pulling my trigger I’m far less inclined to attend to their desires than if they try to cooperate.
I’ll admit that with the rest of life’s distractions it is easy to push aside the things we talk about doing for the WGA but don’t quite get around to. For me (speaking only for me, not the entire bod) gentle public prodding reminds me of what is of concern and important to the membership. Making it a controversy tends to make *me* (not the entire bod) want to ignore it until it settles down.
Back to the subject, as Jeremy stated, please send us your concern/issue. If there is a bod that you know personally, you could send your email to that person and perhaps speak more comfortably. They could then paraphrase and pass on your concern.

I’ll let you know when I know.

Sorry. I’ve only missed one WGA event since I’ve been a board member (this year’s picnic). Come on up to the Eau Claire area and I’ll try my best to be social.
Ruth
We meet in person in Feb/Mar soon after elections, at the Campout in May and at the Picnic in August. We constantly “meet” on the bod forum. We regularly read the forum and to let the others know when we will be out of contact for more than a few days.
I thought there was an email alias to catch all of us with one email, but I couldn’t find mention of it with a quick look on the website. I’ve put in a question on this to the Planner’s Forum, which includes the bod and the webmasters.
I’ve acquired my best geocaching gear at WGA events. I love my sweatshirt from the campout this year (although a rain parka may have been more appropriate). That doesn’t help you right now, but consider it for the future. WGA members come up with some great designs!
Yes, many thanks to Jeremy and Alan for bringing us back online and dealing with inquisitive emails.
This is cool enough that it may be the incentive I needed to enter in all my unlogged caches from the past year+ just so I can use it. Great work and thanks!
Oh, and a stupid PC.
Click on download. Adobe PDF reader tries to open. Errors out.
I get errors trying to read this. Care to enlighten me?
Thanks.
You could just borrow my tent. I can drop it off at your house tomorrow, if you’d like.
Sorry to hear about your brother-in-law. Was it Human Anaplasmosis? That one sounds nasty. I had Lyme’s last year and luckily caught it early so was only horribly miserable when the fever hit instead of worse and it didn’t drag on long as it might have. I feel very sorry for anyone who gets these types of diseases and had a delayed diagnosis.
Hope he’s well soon.
Ruth
I can’t help you on Madison area caches, but I can offer my “Welcome to Wisconsin” to a fellow Ohioan.
I spent slightly less than half my life in the Cleveland area. If you’re ever in the Eau Claire area of Wisconsin, let me know. (geocaching.com name bnb)
I hope you enjoy your visit and our geocaches.
