Congrats, Marc. Hope you enjoyed your trek through the Eau Claire area.

I didn’t find the ticks all that bothersome. I live out in the boonies so maybe I’m just used to having to worry about them. I sprayed my clothes with stuff that is designed for clothes. I didn’t pay attention to what was in it, but it doesn’t smell anywhere near as bad as spraying Off or Cutter all over my clothes. We did find some itty bitty deer ticks crawling on our pants but haven’t found any attached. Considering how much bushwacking we did through tall grass and pine forests I’m actually surprised we didn’t find more.
What I did notice, however, was how few mosquitoes and other biting things there were. I have one weird bug bite on my leg but no mosquito bites. And, there were absolutely no yellow jackets attacking our food or water. This is a big deal to us since my son is allergic to them.
As far as bugs go, this was the best camping trip I’ve ever been on. – BnB
Congrats, Lil Otter! It has really been a pleasure to cache with you. And, especially, thanks for both putting us up and putting up with us. We’ve really enjoyed your hospitality along with your caches. – bnb, Chiot and swlumkin
No, this was Tom Giffey from the Eau Claire Leader Telegram. I’d be interested in being interviewed as long as I can keep my bnb identity out of it. I like being able to have that connected to my name only within the geocaching community.
It appears Tom Giffey got a geocaching.com account for the purposes of using the relay to contact cachers. Unfortunately, since he has never found a cache I cannot use the same method to respond to him to see what he’s after. I don’t have a problem being interviewed, I’d just like to know more details before committing.
Feel free to pass on my name to your contact. Leave out any reference to bnb and just give her the netscape address you already have for me.
I’m sure Tom Giffey will have contacted FOEFN and Bobcat simply because they are such a strong presence here. If you have other info I’d be happy to pass it on to them and see if we could do something together.

… you’re filling out your timecard for work (3 weeks late) and use your geocaching account calendar to figure out what days you took vacation hours to geocache. – bnb
I sure hope you’re right! The last time I went camping was at the Geo Picnic last August. In a summer of drought it poured the night of the picnic.
I’m blaming all this rain on my farmer friends that were complaining about the dry spring. However, I really know it is all my fault for planning a camping trip. – bnb
I’ll be bringing whatever firewood I can fit in my car (Suburban) after I pack the camping stuff. I have plenty to spare.
I started because a friend sent me the url for geocaching.com with the comment, “Have you ever heard of this?” A checked it out, found it an interesting excuse to get out and about with my kids. My friend had never gone geocaching so does that make me a “test tube” geocacher?
I started caching with my kids, my husband picked it up and now, two years later, my son decided he wants his own ID. Tonight we took out the friend that originally told us about it and we think he’s hooked.
So, our lineage is short and circular:
geomuggle -> bnb
bnb -> chiot and swlumkin
bnb and chiot -> geomuggle[This message has been edited by bnb (edited 05-12-2004).]
Just a request from another part of the state. Please find a way to distribute some elsewhere than the lower corner of the state. There are a bunch of very active cachers in other places that I’m sure would be willing to send on a TB or two. (Found on Earth 4 Now, Bobcat and the other cachers in the New Richmond area come to mind because they’re near me. I’m sure there are others across the state.) – BnB
Please add two for bnb.
We’ll be trying to organize something in the Eau Claire area when Lil Otter passes through. Perhaps you can make that one instead, Rhonda. Not as pretty as further north, but closer. – BnB
Our 100th cache was the picnic itself. The only dance we did was the “keep the yellow jackets away” dance.
It’s was a fun 100 caches. I found lots of new parks and the kids and I have had more picnics and played on more playgrounds than we would have without geocaching. And, of course, I’ve met some really great people doing this.
On to the next 100!
