Now back to the event.
Bobcat and DaBloodhound are not posting our hides on GC.com right away. Some may make it, hopefully most do but we don’t want GC.com approval to determine our locations. What we will do, is if our CVTB caches are too close to an existing hide of ours, we’ll disable and pull the existing hide allowing the new CVTB hide to be approved.
If we determine after our placement of our CVTB hide that we are too close to someone Else’s cache to meet GC.com approval, we’ll pull our hide after the event.
Our goal is to provide the most memorable geocaching experience. We feel the only way we can do that is to find our stash spots, build the caches, make the multis or puzzles, and then determine if the caches will meet the GC.com approval standards. If they do, we’ll send them in for approval.
We understand that it may be doing double duty to go back and see if our caches are log-able for a smiley and we apologize for that in advance. That is not our intent. We simply believe that, although it’s fun to find a cache, ultimately it’s the cache stash spot that makes it memorable.
Love the coin! One thing I’d add…….(I know it’s too late but maybe next time) a small wisconsin robin located in the area typically reserved for an artists signature!
Bobcat and Da Bloodhound are teaming up for this event! We are planning some easy and moderate hides but right now, nothing too difficult. We will have a couple of multis, maybe more. Puzzle caches maybe but if we do, we’ll make them location based so return trips won’t be required.
In case they haven’t sent it yet, Interstate State park, Wisconsin’s oldest state park, is right in St Croix Falls and the trail from the park will take you to the trailhead of the Gandy! From there, you can find all of Beadelake crews caches on the Gandy (but plan a day of ridding! We didn’t and came up short on those on the Nort’ end).
ISP has 85 sites, none with electric. Two loops for camping. There’s the more “RV type” north loop that’s pretty open but it’s also along the river. Then there’s the South loop that’s really rustic. It’s our favorite, all six of us really enjoy camping down there. Also, the south loop has the easiest access to alot of the great hiking trails in the park with one exception and that’s The Pot holes trail. This one’s on top of one of the bluffs along the St Croix river and is peppered with pot holes. Do take note of your location on this trail, though! There are ALOT of people rock climbing on those bluffs in season so you’ll want to keep an eye out for their lines!
I’d be interested in some! Drop me a line.
Congrats mi amigo! Where’s Canada, Aye?
I think PTO is RIGHT!
Thanks Jeremy!
I guess what I was saying, in simpler terms, is why is there a link to the posts and nothing else?
I understand that there is a link to each candidates personal page once you click on their name and that’s a great feature! But is the number of posts really relevant when choosing a Representative? Hypothetically speaking, one could go on the forums and post a congratulatory statement for each WGA member, making each post a separate one, run their postings count way up, and have done nothing to help the members of the WGA other than to say”good job!”.
Don’t get me wrong, I think the forums, the posts, and the members posting them are great! I just don’t think that a candidate should not be measured by the number of postings made but instead by the contribution made to geocaching in Wisconsin.
Why are the number of posts made by each candidate listed? I think most posts are just opinions and really have no bearing on the ability to lead but I may be wrong. No, I’m not.
I for one, would rather see a listing of Wisconsin counties each candidate has cached in. That to me would show how their decisions would be based more on Wisconsin Geocaching as a whole rather than a specific area.
Explore Wisconsin is the motto and that should be reflected by the WGA!

Dear LO,
Always know you’ve got a Geobuddy up here in St. Croix County that will
always remember and never forget that this crazy game we play is just for fun and nothing else. Know too that The Gauntlet was and will always be, one of my favorite geocaches right along side another of yours (you know which one!).I also want to tell you that when I embark on an adventure regardless of the type, if I don’t achive the results I expected, I blame no one but myself.
An example of this would be last winter when I finally convinced Cat to go up to Madeline Island with me via the ice road. I did my reasearch and planned for the best time of year to go. The time when the ice would be the thickest. Well, we got there and we found an open sea!! The ice never formed last year.
Anyway, my long winded point is this: You NEVER deserved to get the flak you did for the Gauntlet!! You played a good game and I’m darn proud I was one of those lucky enough to find it!

P.S. You should hide another geocache similar but this one, don’t leave a container. Call it the Vikings. Ya know, nothing to look forward to!!!
I knew I knew where it was! Well, at least I thought I did!
I agree with Team DEEJay (sorry if I spelled it wrong!) and where is Rochester,wi?
Politicians campaign throughout the state to get voters to “join” them. If they don’t, they don’t “win”.
While I am fully aware that 2/3 of the population of Wisconsin lives in the bottom 1/3 of the state, I still don’t think that any one person has more value than any other. Therefore, is it really fair to say that the northern cousins be abandoned when it comes to an official event because such an event won’t produce the required attendance to make it a profitable event?
I am fully aware of the fact that the parks up here are more limited than the parks closer to Madison but I don’t think that stopped the WGA from having an event at Lake Wissota State Park and I don’t think, if you’re only having a picnic event, that that truly matters!
Willow River State Park has a GREAT day use area, the manager is welcome to geocaching in the park and is even interested in it! Willow River S.P. is close to MN so we would get a drove of MN cachers into the event and since it would only be a picnic event, those who had to travel more than 3 hours could get a camp site!

This site is great, don’t get me wrong, but the greatest thing about Zuma hitting his 1500 is that he still has that passion for this game!!
AND, becaause he has that passion, he continues to ALSO find great places to hide caches! He’s got THE best series of caches all along the Chippewa River and the best part is, you can access them from a paved bike trail!
I must admit, I have yet to find even one of these caches but that was planned. See, I normally head out now (when I can) by myself and find the caches that interest me. But this series, put out there by my friend, can only be experienced by the full bobcatw98 team!
Therefore, I wish to congratulate (can’t spell) a great geocacher on an amazing accomplishment, encourage all and everyone to find his newest series, and make it a point to personally thatnk the man that brings us so much joy!
Rock on Zuma!
Keep on cachin’!
Bobcat
I’ve driven by that sign almost daily for the last 10+ years and always thought it interesting that it “added” up. Now there’s a game out there that supports that type of “thinking” and I’m on the inside looking out!!
That’s just my luck, my curse, or dare I say my in appropriate verse?
Keep on cachin’!
