Fifth graders are mouthy??? I guess that is why I sent mine to Madison to visit her aunt for the last few days. It has been really quiet around here.
Mr. Irish posted this on Facebook. I think it is what he wants challenges to be:
I kind of wish that you would have to complete a challenge, before giving it a thumbs up or down.
I would recommend GC2YTJ1, it is an easy field puzzle at a Milwaukee area institution. The cache itself is one of those evil little hides.
Congrats again!! You two are out of this world. I know its bad, but that is the best I have this morning.
I know it is one step at a time and any good news is great. A quick hope for continued success.
I created a challenge today. I have been wanting to place a cache at a location for a while, but did not want to create another off-set multi cache that few people would find. I could not get permission near the place in question. The challenge format allows for a pseudo virtual cache:
I just looked up the challenges locally that survived.

http://www.geocaching.com/challenges/view.aspx?cx=CX521The bar challenge seems a lot like GC1EBA . There is traditional cache at a one of those locations GC1E5A0 .
The Fonz challenge already exists GC1FGFC .
I know that the challenges are not going to simply go away. Too much effort was put into developing the idea. I am going to embrace it and try to use the parameters to develop challenges that seem like a virtual cache. Look forward to this later today.
The frog will be tired tonight after having archived 1,000’s of challenge caches. I guess a location is needed for a challenge. I might wait a few weeks to see how this evolves. I am sure it will be more like virtual caches in a short time.

Here’s a twisted theory to double your “found” count.
I could publish a “challenge” for every cache that I own which states, “Find cache XXX”. By doing so, you’ll get a “found” for the cache and another “found” when you complete the challenge.
Well this theory has already caught on.
Virtual Cache – So many Storeys, So Little Time (GC47A4)
Challenge – Don’t Look Down! http://www.geocaching.com/challenges/view.aspx?cx=CX287I guess I should log that one

Maybe I’m the only one confused, but how do these challenges relate to geocaching?
Great Question. I was thinking at the minimum a challenge should at least require a person to go to a location.

Really???
At first glance, this seems poor. It will be interesting to see how this concept evolves. It appears that the challenges will not be counted as “finds”.
Do Challenges increase my Geocaching.com find count?
Yes. Challenge completions and geocache finds are combined in your total stats count. However, you can hover over anyone’s count to see how many caches and challenges the user has found and completed.
This makes me sad. Numbers are truly more pointless then ever.
Really???

The fact that there will be no review of the challenges is almost frightening. Theoretically, I could challenge someone to post a picture of people doing anything anywhere (i.e. take a picture of yourself partaking of the services at the Bunny Ranch). I am sure some of you can use your imaginations.

Please keep the stamp book in some form. My daughter absolutely gets excited about the stamps. Our sheet from the weekend is currently still drying on fridge magnets waiting to go into her scrapbook. I will post proof of this. The fact that it is tie-dyed makes it even better.
