Here are a couple of other interesting caches GC16ORO and this one is a little drive, but a historic one GC28.

The pirate and the non-cacher will be married 10 years this August.

Congrats on your first 100 sir!! It was nice meeting you a couple times along the way.

I would add floods to the list.

in reply to: "old" or "new" cacher? #1930611

I am with you Sandlanders, stuck in the middle.

We started caching early summer 2007. I remember looking up cache pages and having to wait forever for them to load with a dial-up internet connection. I would write a short description or even sketch a map in a notebook, because I didn’t want to waste computer ink. I then would manually enter the coordinates into my GPSr most of the time with my children impatiently waiting to go search. Things have definitely changed since then.

I feel like you that I am not “new” anymore, but I am not “old” either. I love hearing stories of legendary caches that are long gone, but I find myself telling stories to others of caches that are long gone to them.

I guess that is what is great about this hobby and life. “Old” or “New” doesn’t really matter, everyone has something to offer.

I see that they also included that a cache may only be in a location for 2 years. No more tree climbs either, the “no fun police” are at it again. I guess trampling a flower bed has its consequences. All in all, it seems their policy is fairly close to Milwaukee County.

Buy a $20 rain Poncho drink a few $10 beers and you won’t even know it’s raining.

I see you can now “like” caches for Facebook and nominate caches for the Lost and Found. Is this a good thing?

I just saw that. I think it’s pretty stupid. 🙄

I agree, but maybe I am too old to understand its need.

I would stay away from the ’02 Honda Accord. I am just saying that model year was notorious for bad transmissions. Both my father-in-law and I had that car, they both needed a new transmission before 50,000.

When viewing the photos, I thought Mark was begging you not to run him down. After the next photo, I saw the 9 fingers. A big Congrats to the two of you. I hope we meet again soon.

Congrats! 7K seems impossible. Keep on going.

in reply to: How did you get Started? #1929965

I got turned around bow hunting just over three years ago. My hunting “buddies” making fun of me caused my wife to panic, so I bought a cheap magellan explorist 100 to find my way to and from the car. I like VG saw the local weatherman, Vince Condella, talk about this hobby. We found our first cache a little more then 3 years ago, as of today we are at 1,210. It gives me an excuse to get my daughters outside and spend some time with them.

in reply to: FTF to total finds ratio #1929845

My ratio is 1 in every 151.25. My thought is the cache will still be there after 6:00 am, so why hurry.
