    Socko,

I am stunned to hear that you are seriously ill, causing you to retire from a sport that I know you enjoyed greatly. Sometimes, the realities of what we encounter in life are sobering. I enjoyed meeting you as well as searching for the many caches you have set up, helping me discover so much more of the Milwaukee area than what I knew of while growing up there.

I wish you the best of luck in battling this illness, and will keep you in my prayers. Thank you for what you have offered to the world of geocaching.

Got more ice than snow in Racine..maybe up to an inch around town.

I can see that it’s a dog. Of course you’re depending on the judgement of someone who thought an aerial view of Lake Winnebago was the state of Illinois.

I never heard of that before, but I can see how it could happen. I actually heard of a logbook inadvertantly being taken from a cache and moved to another cache. The person who took a travelbug from the first cache grabbed two baggies stuck together, unaware the thin log sheets were in the other one, and placed them both in the second cache. The only way I knew, was there was supposed to be coordinates for a bonus cache in the logbook, but there was no logbook for me to even sign when I found the cache.

Just played it as a matter of fact. A nice segment featuring the Ecorangers and Auntienae, plus someone at the end who I couldn’t identify, but could certainly identify with.

I totally agree, and now may be the best time to go for both..before the foliage adds to the difficulty.

I wound up using acetone (also found in fingernail polish remover) along with a sharp scalpel blade…helps to work in a hospital lab.

Congratulations. I enjoyed seeing both of you at the Jamboree as well.

I still don’t see why they couldn’t just issue a color coded yearly sticker that could go on a corner of the front license plate..like they do for our licence renewal with stickers that go on the rear plate.

Interesting point, PCFrog. I have found a few caches here and there under path bridges, including one ammo box.

I relied on Buxley’s a lot for caches located out of my area. I’m really going to miss that.

Not really sure, since it’s been years since I had been to the nature center and I have never seen the beach area itself, but I know that it is due north of Doctor’s Park, where Bird on a Wire-St.Louis is located as well as one of the new 007 series caches. I know that there’s a beach area at Doctor’s Park to get out of the water at.

If you were to take Brown Deer Rd as far east as you could possibly take it, you would get to the entrance of the Schlitz Audubon Center. I’m not sure if they have camping facilities there or if they even allow for it, but under the circumstances, they just might. May be worth contacting them since they are directly on Lake Michigan. One website for them is http://www.schlitzauduboncenter.com and they even had a private session on geocaching there recently.

in reply to: Geocache Near Active Coyote Den #1760567

I looked up the cache, and it’s one I did a while back…actually located on the south side of Milwaukee/north side of Greendale just outside of a huge cemetery.

I’ve only seen coyotes twice, but not while geocaching. Both times were in urban settings; on a golf course, and running down the middle of a city street. Some people say that coyotes are harmless, but I believe that any animal, if it feels threatened, can be dangerous. They are notorious for attacking and killing small pets and have no fear of people at all anymore. I would treat them with a healthy respect.
