Congrats on your 800th find. Glad to see that you survived the experience with your car, earlier in the week, as well.
Thanks for the heads up.
Congratulations on hitting the 500 mark. Good luck on your next 500.
I used to look forward to the warmer months so I could play my 60 or so rounds of golf per season, but since discovering geocaching…I can live without golf, no problem at all. Also, I could’ve never pictured myself hiking off a trail into thicker brush/thorns unless I had a real good reason to. Now I do. Plus the mileage I’ve put on my car has nearly tripled in the last year from the previous year. A trip from Racine to, let’s say New Berlin, seemed like a big journey, but now it’s a hop step and a jump away.
Big Yonson, If you’re looking for Dick’s it’s in Racine across Hwy 31 from Regency Mall (you probably know that already). If you’re looking for Sherper’s, it’s in Hales Corners near the intersection of Hwy 100 (108th st) and Janesville Rd. I was at Sherper’s for the first time yesterday, and was quite impressed. It’s just north of Whitnall Park, which has several nice caches hidden it it. I don’t know where Gaylan’s is/was.

I don’t know if this will help, but I bought a plain white fishing vest at Dick’s Sporting Goods that has several pockets…the bottom pockets large enough to put my GPS, A Travelbug, a few small trade items in one, then a flashlight, compass, digital camera, small binocs, and a swiss army knife in the other. I don’t remember what I paid for it, but I’m sure it was under $30.00. It isn’t too bulky, which allows for me to bushwack or climb without too much trouble. A fishing vest also makes a nice coverup story while geocaching near lakes or streams.

I’ve had others ask me if it was pronounced ‘Berk-ster’, plus I even had someone ask me if I was from Brookfield (I’m not).
I guess you can count me in for two: Wisconsin and Illinois.
I was a little hesitant to jump in on this because my nickname (given to me years ago) is a no-brainer…just adding ‘ster’ to my last name..Brick. I simply eliminated the ‘ic’ on my e-mail since there already was a Brickster, and decided to keep the same handle for geocaching.
I think it’s really cool that you could get your parents to an event and your mon down to Racine last weekend. I keep trying to get my two brothers to join me, but no luck. I did actually get my son out with me last Sunday, and what’s more incredible is that I’ve even taken my FORMER mother-in-law with me on one occasion.

I had a great time hunting down ‘Executive Order-Vote” with Team Badger. Even though I had already found it last May, I figured I would tag along and visit with other geocachers, but the fact is…everything we reached from WP#3 to the tag just before the final was new to me (altogether there were 28 individual waypoints one could choose)so I had the experience of looking for four tags I had never seen before. I guess I took the 20% and the 80% correct routes before (80% is still acceptable to reach the final)instead of the 100% route. Either way, it was a total success to meet other geocachers both familiar and new to me. Thanks to Team Badger and Folk Trakers for a really neat experience.
Way to go Parkview…keep up the good work.
