Congrats from a fellow Racinian. You Folks hide some great caches as well.
Congratulations on 700.
500 down…135,000 to go and counting. Way to go!
200 caches in 3 months is a very good cache/day rate, especially up there in the Northland. Congratulations. Isn’t this sport great?
Lots of times the “pride factor” gets in the way, plus sometimes, I’m afraid that if the cache is still there, claiming a no-find may discourage others from hunting that cache. But on the otherhand…not listing one when it’s actually missing could cause someone else to go on a wild goose chase. I agree that it could signal something to the cache owner that something could be wrong with the cache or any of its stages. I would lean towards fessing up to the fact that I wasn’t successful that time around.

Congratulations on being a first finder. I don’t have much dancing rhythm so I skipped that part when it happened for me. Is there a song for that dance?
Anyone interested in cachehunting in the Racine area might want to check out Cliffside Park in the northeast part of the county. I camped out there last night and enjoyed hiking on the trails, especially near the lake bluffs. I woke up this morning to the hooting of a couple of owls. Who knows….may be another cache popping up here in the next week or so.
Nice article. Glad to see the Cheeseheads find “A River Runs Through it”…the very first cache I ever found..as an ordinary hiker who ran into a geocacher (Spiderjugs) who let me tag along and see what this sport was all about. Also, I think it would be fun for the reporter to take on “Executive Order…Vote” sometime before election day.
I don’t know DJ. You may have a follower out there. That is funny.
Looks like I better get hustling out there. At least I have three months to find them.
I found a fishing vest that is very convenient with several pockets. In one pocket, I keep my GPSr with a couple sets of spare batteries along with items for trading when I find the caches. In another pocket, I keep a compass, flashlight, a Swiss army knife, a digital camera, and some pepper spray (my daughter insisted I get that). In another smaller pocket, I keep a low-carb advantage candybar, in case I get hungry. I keep a water bottle in case of long hikes and always have maps in my car so I know where I’m going. I also bring binoculars at times depending on where I’m going.
Above all other things I have my cell phone with me…just in case.[This message has been edited by brkster (edited 08-05-2004).]
Congratulations on your first 500. Good luck on your next 500.
The man’s a regular caching machine…plus it’s fun to read what he writes.
Congratulations on your 400th find. 500’s just down the road.
Bigtime! I’ve notice this happen before, periodically. Have we outgrown the website so that the servers can’t handle it anymore with too many users?
