You folks are amazing. Congrats.
Congratulations on hitting the millennium, Eric.
I heard that Superior had a high of 91 after a morning low of 37.
I’m not too sure about opposums, but skunks, bats, raccoons, and foxes are the most common spreaders of rabies in this area for sure. On occasions, other animals such as wolves or coyotes can get the disease (as do dogs and cats, when bitten by rabid animals), but surprisingly, smaller rodents like squirrels, chipmunks, and mice rarely if ever become infected. 50,000 people world-wide die of the disease, largely in under developed countries where the vaccine isn’t readily available (without the vaccine, the disease is fatal). In the US, the CDC reports an average of about 7,000 cases of rabid animals each year. Another thing I’d be concerned about is tetanus. I hope your tetanus shots are up to date there, Matt.
Thanks for sharing that Matt, and sorry to hear about your experience. Like Zuma stated, that could have happened to any of us. Not only have I blindly put my hand into holes looking for caches, but also to check them out for possible hiding spots. Sometimes we get so pre-occupied in what we’re doing while out on the trails. This will make me think twice at least before doing that any more.
Congratulations to both of you.
Way to go, Donna!!!
SSSnoopy was with Rogheff and me when we found it/opened it. I never noticed if they logged the find. I was hoping I could help you with the combo, Jay, but I never wrote it down either.
I was out there around 10:00 am today, looking for a regular geocache that is out there, and saw no such activity. Perhaps it was later in the day or on Sunday, which is the 17th??
Wow..unreal! I had a few washed away by the Root River, so all you Michigan cachers stay on the alert out there.

Sorry to hear that, Matt. People need to realize that this country was founded under the tenets of GOD and Christianity. We come from all walks of life, and everyone has the right to believe and pray as they wish, but also respect the rights of others to do as they wish. Not sure which cache you posted the blessing on, and I don’t need to know, but if I had seen it, I would have saluted you for doing it.
Donna,
I think you have come to the point where you can control geocaching, and NOT where geocaching controls you. This is a really fun sport/activity. We all get something out of it in one way or another. Congrats on keeping things in the proper perspective. One thing to note though is that it’s not always the addiction that drives a lot of us. For me, it’s the opportunity to kill some time doing something that I really enjoy doing; many times with others like yourself. It’s a great way to break up the monotony on long drives, plus it leads you to many interesting places while on road trips that you may never have known about otherwise.
Hope you’re doing better. Here’s to a full recovery and back on the trails again.
Jay has a number of Nemesis caches that he has spent a great deal of time and effort creating. This one was so well designed, it had me baffled, even though I was looking for something like this. Sorry to see it go.
