Congratulations on reaching the millenium plus finishing the DeLorme Challenge. Glad to see that you have overcome the obstacles you have faced along the way. Keep up the good work.
Congratulations on your 3000th find. Nice to see you on the trails every now and then.
I’m not averse to taking advantage of what’s available, IF it’s available. I have a palm pilot, but rarely use it. I still print cache pages out, but try to condense it a bit using a Google map with other nearby caches plotted, and handwriting info down on that map page. I try to memorize each cache with its specifics, although my memory tends to fade on me at times.
It’s back up again..check out the visit section of the cache pages, as it now breaks it down between finds, no-finds, notes, etc.
I agree, Ryan, and believe me, I appreciated the hint. My GPS readings may vary by 20-30 ft from another’s and in sensitive areas that could be a problem. I also had the pleasure of seeing a hint that read “you shouldn’t need one”. I obviously did because it took me three tries to find it, and only after a previous finder gave me a hint.
Thanks Randy. Looks like prices have jumped up a bit again.
I was wondering who that new approver was. Does that mean I can’t consult with you on those really tough puzzle caches anymore?
I currently have one cache located in a Milwaukee County Park. It is GCJG3X, Daniel’s Mind Bender, located in Bender Park, and very close to a path along a bluff which offers cachers a great view of Lake Michigan’s shoreline up and down the coast. According to the guidelines, it may have to be removed. I’m hoping that’s not the case.
WSQ works for me. Whatever you guys decide.
At GZ, I will log nearly all of my DNF’s, the only exceptions being when it takes several attempts of futility to find a cache. I will log most of those attempts, but maybe not all. If something prevents me from reaching GZ, I will write a note as to why. For me, I consider getting to GZ, and giving it at least a quick look-around. I feel that since I have found some caches right away, I might as well log DNF’s after brief searches as well. I find many cache owners to be most helpful in giving hints to help narrow my search the next time around. I also check out what others write, which can lead to clues as to where to look.
Gee Whiz Donna,
Should I congratulate you for your 1000 unique finds or for your 1200 total finds? 😉
I have one hide as well, plus I’ve considered doing more. Let’s just say it would work for me.
For me, including temp caches, which I no longer count: 51 twice. One was during one of the days of The Highway 100/100 event the summer before last, which actually had 117 finds that a number of people netted in one day. Without temp caches, or just straight up caching, invert those numbers and 15 is my tops. I usually go for 4-8 on a run as the norm, as I normally call it quits after about a couple of hours, or after I get my ‘fix’.
I didn’t say I ‘needed’ birthdays..I just like them. They just come each year, but what the heck..it sure beats the alternative.
March is my favorite month of the year. Not only is my birthday in March, but it’s a transition into spring, plus March Madness with all those basketball tournaments. As for mud…it dries up after a while…I think.
