Congratulations!
I enjoyed spending a few minutes with you at the Janboree talking and I look forward to the next time we get to catch up.
Professor Pharmteem, did you get your “homework” done or did the Mrs keep you going?
Now off to do mine…
Jeff you bring up many valid points. When I posted my original “excellent” I was in a euphoric state of mind. My only negative thought was could it end up a popularity contest. I then read your post and realized that I hadn’t completely thought everything out.
I do think it is an excellent idea. There are many people that promote the WGA as well as promoting geocaching within our state. Some of those that I think of off the top of my head are: administrators approving caches, BoD that spend their time and money (travel) during their service to the WGA, WISearchers (I believe) working with Madison to get caches authorized there and still willing to continue even after her service on the board ends, AuntieNae and her many geocaching workshops and recurring events, and cachers like BobCat, GizFinder, and Ecorangers who hide many caches so other cachers can get out and see more areas of the state. Of course these are only some of what comes to light right away.
Unfortuantly, those that volunteer do not get enough pats on the back, which I believe they so rightly deserve.
I am also shameful to admit that I believe a reward system may end up not being as objective as I would hope. That I feel that it is a real possibility that subjectivity and (sadly) personal interest may play a part in distribution.
I will be honest, I am not a fan of cache of the month because it is only based on those that participate on the WGA (key word: participate) forums/website. Popularity or campaigning can play a part on who wins that “award.”
So where I applaud our board for taking advantage of the situation I also add caution to the wind. I’m sure your hearts and minds are in the right place. I just throw out a warning that it could cause more problems due to human nature.
I have to second that! This Janboree was even better than last year! I have been introduced to many new stores that I look forward to going back to.
Though I haven’t personally hosted an event I know there is a lot of work that goes into getting things going, especially getting all these merchants on board! Thanks for all your time and effort to introduce geocaching to more people in the communities!

I would appreciate very much if you would.
This is fantastic!
I can think of a few people that I would considered and nominate!

As has been pointed out so many times on WGA threads, people can either read, or not…it’s their choice. They also have the power/right to reply.
Step off the soap box, get your head out of the clouds, wake up and smell the coffee…whatever cute little saying you choose…just open your eyes to a world that is REAL!
I have to disagree with you MB. I believe, and I may be wrong, that these forums are for positive, fun discussions to clear the air about something such as processes, ask questions, excetera.
Yes people should be able to express their opinions, but when it gets to the point of lashing out at other people and is personal it shouldn’t be done here. Try a different forum: an example would be a chat room in yahoo.
The world is real, yes; however, people like to escape once in a while. Unfortunatly, fun and intersting people “leave” these forums because of negative, hostile discussions. Do we really want to be known for that? If you (meant as general) disagree with someone its great to voice your opinion. Primarily the people in the forums are adults (whether we chose to act that way or not). I believe adults should be able to “agree to disagree.” I wish, though, that when we disagree that we can apply critical thinking to our opinion/side and communicate that to one another. Who knows, if we communicate well enough perhaps you (again general) would persuade others to agree with your point of view.
A lot of discussion is based on interpretations. I may read a post and take it totally different than the way it was intended. I try to post here objectivly. Yes, sometimes I lapse in judgement but still that is my primary goal. In general we should all realize that these forums lack facial communication – you know verbal and non-verbal communication. It is based on our interpretations.
Okay – I gues I’m done rambling.
In closing I would like everyone (including me) to think about how someone reading what we wrote will react. AND, if we do read something and we are upset by it, take it off-line, meaning, howabout emailing the person direct and asking them if we took it wrong before posting on these threads?! That would help these forums stay positive.
I, too, had the pleasure of meeting Dairy on the trails. My heart goes out to Geogil as I understand the pain of losing a part of the family like Dairy was to him.

here’s a link to GC’s info on the changes … http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=120257Looks like the TB/Coin tab must have went through a couple quick “changes of mind” … as in the above link he calls the tab “Collections”, but I saw it as “Collectables” and now it’s “Trackables”.
Ron, I believed you without you having to add the link.
Way to go Natloh2! It feels great to make a goal and to meet it, doesn’t it?!
Congratulations on venturing out and seeing all the counties in our fine state.

A warm smile and a big huge welcome, Lonesumdove, to this addictive hobby!
I hope you find that these forums are a great place to get to know your fellow cachers; learn about caching policies, procedures, and changes; seek out answers to questions about caching, parks, DNR, etc; learn about up comping events; as well as to have a hearty laugh or two along with people you may start calling family.
Welcome!
Great picture!
Your son is adorable and it’s great to hear that he had as much of a reward as did Dad!
Thumbs up and congratulations for your newest milestone!
Marc – what am I printing? A list of all the caches I found in a day. You know, a check and balance when I’m entering.
As for plucker, before Professor went down to KY he was having problems with his query. He emailed it to me and asked me to pluck it for him which I did successfully.
SO that makes me ask: could it be an operating system probelm? I run XP whereas Professor is running one from the dinosaur years {{giggle}}.

This has happened to Professor of the ecorangers. He re-unzipped the file and it worked fine.
