No, you are not wrong to log the find. I surely would have!
I recently came upon a cache with contents spread everywhere, but no log book. I placed the cache back together, notified the owner that maintenance was needed and logged the find.
The same day I did another cache that all that was found was a plastic bag with a log, no container. The previous log said the container was missing. I happened to have a container and took it with me. When I found the plastic bag and log I logged it and used my new container. I logged this as a find also.
The bottom line is that it is up to the cache owner to allow or disallow a find. This is where the line “caching is different things to different people” comes to play.
Great point Energysaver! You are able to adjust the color of the zire 31, but it still makes it difficult to see. Creating a shadow and working with your zire 31 in the shadow seems to work (though frustrating).
Way to go AstroD Team!
Now how about a GDO sometime soon?
Hm, I heard it is nearby…I’ll have to grab a picture and pass it on…
WTG Trudy & Beast!
42 years together — that’s an incredible milestone!WTG F-Trup on your newest milestone!
Congrats on your milestone and I wish you many, many more! I look forward to meeting you sometime.
WTG on your milestone! I enjoyed talking to you on the trail yesterday (actually the parking lot )
And cheers to many more!
The world of geocaching is so different when you have everything at the touch of a button!
Brkster: there is a way to write the stuff down as I do it all the time while trying to figure out puzzles, etc.
Hope you hit your milestone and lets plan on caching together some time!
That is a great question and I’m glad you mentioned what I’ve been saying for a while: caching is different things to different people.
My first year was an incredible first year…truly an addiciton. I don’t make a point to remember where a cache falls on my number count (except each 100 milestone) but I do remember the memorable caches.
When I first started caching the caches that were available were longer hikes. I have seen that over the past year the caches themselves have changed. Instead of longer hikes there are a lot more drive-ups. Some of those drive-ups are purely number increasers, others are challenging and makes you use your head (such as GCNPBF). Is that wrong? I say: NO. Sometimes it is nice to have an easy find if you’ve been having a hard time finding a cache; it would be a confidence builder. [ ]
We are truly blessed with the right of free will. As cachers we have the choice of longer hikes, quick drive-ups, or a combination of both.
I don’t remember every cache because let’s be honest, some seem to be just thrown out there. But I remember the great ones!
I may not remember all 70 caches that I found at the Campout up North, but I sure as heck remember the weekend, the kids’ stamina, the bonding with friends, the fun, and the challenge.
I may not remember every cache I found a week ago, a month ago, six months ago, or a year ago, but I remember the opportunity for solitude, meditation, reflection, friendships (new and old), and health benefits from the activity.
Thanks for asking the question and not faulting people for their choice of how they chose to use geocaching in their lives.

Nope – no PI on me! I thought I did but nope. I had one bump near a scratch and it was itchy but I think it was a bug bite.
^)Way to go Miata! We’ll have to take another picture of the Millenium Club at the next event.
Congrats!!Well it is official: Ecorangers broke 4,000! I just got a call from my Geo-mom Earth Angel letting me know that they hit 4k on their way to St. Louis. The plan was to hit the golden number around some arch (heh, heh), however, it was just too sweet to wait! Decatur, IL was the location of #4,000 with Princess calling the hootie! Way to go my favorite geocachers and neighbors!!
B. Queen…on your trail!Socko, I’m looking forward to the event!
100 caches on August 20th, hmm, that will help me achieve my goal that I set. My personal goal is to have 2,000 finds in my first year.
Cool!
