This picture was taken in New Mexico.
There is a really cool mountain / overlook just NE of Albuquerque, with its own Virtual cache: GCD892
It’s only about 20 miles off of “The Mother Road”
Speaking of which:

Sometimes I really love the fabulous interconnected network!
We’re watching it too!
I don’t know about you, but I prefer a less-crowded park. I say give the people *MORE* channels to watch, then I can go out and enjoy the solitude.

A big Thank You to everybody who voted for me.
I would also like to extend a very sincere thanks to everybody else who ran for a position on the board. We couldn’t have gone wrong regardless of who was elected.

YES! I want to see a few more events hosted by the WGA. We tossed around the idea of a winter event in January, but unfortunately it never really got off the ground.
I guess we shouldn’t have gone down the path of a black tie, fully catered event with a band. 😉
I am all for some simple gatherings in the wintertime.
I have more time now to devote to the WGA than ever before. I have passed along my responsibilities as a reviewer for geocaching.com. That frees up a bunch of time.
Why vote for me?
Because I’m so darned cute and cuddly.
No, seriously,
I bring to the table 4 years of experience on our BOD.
I bring the insight of having been a geocaching.com reviewer for over three and a half of those years.
I am willing to spend real time to do real work on behalf of the WGA.
I have some experience working with government agencies (DNR and NPS).Rest assured, the intention was to publish minutes from every board meeting.
Unfortunately, life sometimes has a way of throwing a curve-ball (or two or three or four). Our secretary has had an exceptional year, and I’m sure that the task of publishing the minutes just didn’t have priority over other things in her life.
As an aside, the officers on the BOD each have a bit more to do than the board members at large (non-officers). The secretary position carries with it the *most* additional work. Future candidates should consider that real work, taking real time, needs to be done for all BOD positions, but epically the secretary position.
The non-publication of minutes was unintentional, and I wouldn’t expect that trend to continue.
An annual coin? That (in my humble opinion) is a bit of overkill.
I would be completely on board with a bi-annual coin.
My fears (maybe unfounded) would be that we would:
– Run out of ideas, making it difficult to keep it fresh.
– “Burn Out” those who might buy a Wisconsin coin.
– Flood the market unnecessarily. Scarcity can be a good thing sometimes.Well, we haven’t degraded to attack ads and name calling just yet…
OKAY…THATS IT!!!!!
If I were a Swift Boat Veteran, the color of the geocache I would place would be flat black. Flat black looks like a shadow (try it sometime). The single best way to bring non-WGA members to the WGA is to have the “Placed By” link at the bottom of the cache pages.
The news letter would be the best way to bring more traffic to the WGA site from existing WGA members. However, the BOD needs to be sure that the newsletter remains relevant and does not contain too much “fluff”.
I don’t see the need to change the logo.
I don’t think there would be any tangible benefits to updating it, yet there would still be a financial cost and a significant amount of labor to make the change.
Some things I’ve done at/for the various WGA events: Treasurer’s Report , cache pickup, Registration/downloads, pancake breakfast, garlic mustard death squad, hidden night caches, created automated booklet tool, assembled booklets, cleaned up, storage of WGA property, and more.
If elected, I would continue to do more of the same, and I would like to participate more in the geocache hiding as well.
