    I think Lostby7 put it best….

One person’s urban spew may be the only geocaches another person can get out to find. If you don’t like urban-spew-hides, don’t look for them.

As Deejay pointed out, where and how geocaches are placed are really beyond the control of the WGA.

If you see a geocache that you like, shout it to the world, nominate it for Cache Of The Month, recommend it to your friends, talk about it in the forums. If you come across a geocache that is causing problems, give constructive criticism, either in your log or privately to the owner. If it is an overly dangerous or illegal situation, contact your geocaching.com reviewer.

in reply to: Question #2: Regional Representation #1883522

Although in theory this sounds like a good idea, I see that it could be fraught with many pitfalls.

The current way of electing BOD members will tend to lead to geocacher-rich areas having a chance at more representation on the BOD. I, for one, don’t see this as such a bad thing. The issues facing geocachers throughout the state aren’t all that different.

Imposing (somewhat) arbitrary geographical zones may artificially eliminate the individuals willing to devote the most time and effort to the WGA.

The biggest problem I’ve experienced on the WGA BOD is lethargy, not regional bias. We need energetic people willing to consistently devote a reasonable effort towards the WGA.

    More important than geographical location:
    – Willingness to consistently devote effort to the WGA.
    – Willingness to consider input from throughout the state.

in reply to: Question #1: Midwest Geobash #1883516

    I have not attended a mega-event.

That being said, I’m not so sure that holding a mega-event here would benefit the WGA or geocachers in Wisconsin. As Lostby7 has so eloquently brought to the discussion, it could present us with some more serious issues.

Although I probably wouldn’t vote against it, I would have a tough time fully supporting it.

Groundspeak won’t give up that information.

What you can do, is post a note to the cache page, asking all who are watching to send you an e-mail.

    Best of luck.

You still have the option of writing a reviewer note. Click on the log it box and it should be on the bottom. Just list the correct coords and what needs to be done and the reviewer should get a notification.(at least that how I did it once.)

Nope. A “To Reviewer” note does *not* fire off an e-mail or any kind of notification to the reviewer. You need to contact them via e-mail or through their profile on Geocaching.com

The only time a “To Reviewer” note is read by a reviewer, is if it is left on a cache page *prior* to publication.

It is a somewhat silly system, to say the least.

I’ve had pretty good luck with Primo PDF.

It installs as a printer, and any windows software that prints, can print to a PDF file.

in reply to: Any updates on when the WI Geocoins will ship? #1881728

It is looking like they will likely ship (USPS) on (or maybe a little before) the 10th of December, 2007.

    I would say extremely irritating.

in reply to: Palm 3 and stuff for low cost paperless caching #1880549

I’ve been using a similar PDA for paperless caching, and one of these works really well. The best feature is that the batteries are replaceable in the field. So, if you are out for a long day of caching, you can replace the batteries and be good to go again instead of having to find power to plug-in somewhere.

in reply to: Help!! Our furnace died!! #1880946

We had a new furnace put in about a dozen years ago by these guys:

    http://www.yellowpages.com/info-SA30823195/Landolt-Service?from=qpibp

They did a great job and (at the time) their price was fair.

George (the owner) is a real hoot, you will enjoy talking with him, I guarantee it.
