I have an old one of these:

    Garmin E-Map

that I keep on the handlebar of my bicycle. I’ve recorded every ride I’ve taken for the past 3 years with it. I cannot believe it hasn’t been wrecked by the constant shock and vibration it is subjected to (30~50 miles/week) during the three riding seasons.

There was a television commercial for a credit card company several years ago featuring a husband walking around his house stating how far he was from Los Angles, how fast he was walking, what his elevation was, etc… all while his wife was watching him, shaking her head. The premise was that the wife had bought a GPSr for her husband, and now he was driving her crazy with it. At the end of the commercial the wife mutters “Should’ve bought him the tie”. My wife bought me my GPSr for Christmas one year, and let’s say that the commercial hits really close to home.
    Now you know.

😀 And I liked yr name even before I heard the story! I remember how funny that commercial was too! That was before my caching days and yet it still made an impression… ah my destiny calling me!

There’s a 6-pack of beer in it for the first one to find that commercial on-line somewhere. I’ve looked but cannot locate it.

It is likely a problem with the Time Warner DNS server.

Maybe you could try switching DNS servers?

    I would suggest http://www.opendns.com

All it needs to be is a setting on your computer (Setup On Computer Instructions)

or, you can set it up on your router too: (Setup On Home Router)

There are additional benefits you can get by signing up for a free account, but you don’t have to sign up for anything.

I’ve been running this for a while and it works well.

    Have you tried Easy GPS?

But, if you can see the waypoints on the GPS map but cannot “find” any of them, you may not be looking in quite the right place.

I’m not sure of the exact key sequence on the H, but on my Garmins there is an option to “find nearest” or “find alphabetically”, and the default is “find nearest”.

If all of your waypoints are far away, the “nearest” can come up blank. So go to find waypoints, then bring up the menu, and it should allow you to switch between “nearest” and “alphabetical”.

Maybe somebody with this exact unit could walk you through the procedure.

    Good luck!

Last year’s event was great. However, the board (of which I was a member at the time) made a critical error on the chili. Our error was “All you can eat” instead of “One bowl each”. This was the primary reason we ran out. The current board should either bring a dump truck of chili, or market the event a little differently (if they are even going to do chili, that is).

Just west of Milwaukee, you can pick up the Ice Age Trail. I would recommend picking it up at N43 00.804 W88 23.920. There is a wide spot in Hwy. 18 here, and you can hike north up into Lapham Peak State Park There’s a bunch of caches there, along with a nifty fire tower to climb.

I found some tape at an auto-parts store. It is made by 3M, and during the day it shows up black, but is bright white at night.

    It probably wouldn’t fly.

A geocaching event is defined as an event put on by geocachers for geocachers, not a tack-on to an existing event.

You could probably get it to work if you set up a meet & greet before (or after) the church event just for the geocachers. Contact one of our helpful reviewers before you go through the work of setting this up.

    Okay….

How did “http://www.coincodes.com/” get all of the tracking numbers for our coins.

I was the keeper of the activation codes and I didn’t give them out, so who did?

    To de-clarify a little bit…..

The lighthouse coin was *not* produced by the WGA, but instead by a board member (LightningBugs Mum).

She graciously donated all profits generated by the coin sales to the WGA, but fronting the money to produce it, as well as selling it was all her gig.

I purchased two of these coins from her and donated them to the WGA to keep as part of our history, as the WGA (at the time) had none of them.

It toasts my gizzards when copy protection schemes get in the way of legally using a piece of software. Baaaaad Garmin.

It would be really easy to make this process / procedure into a behemoth. Please remember:
