    Woo Hoo!

Thanks to everybody who threw their hat into the ring.

The process of answering all of those doggone questions is truly difficult and time consuming.

Good luck to our newly minted BOD members.

If you look at any GPX file, the co-ords are listed in decimal degrees, just like you want. (view the GPX file in notepad)

Mapsource will convert if for you too.

Or, if you are a masochist, you can convert using the following formula.

    Ndd mm.mmm Wdd mm.mmm

    decimal degrees = dd + (mm.mmm / 60)

I’m guessing Monty Python, but I’m not sure.

I never really got their humor much anyway.

If both are elected, one of them will need to take on a different name. 8)

Could you please post this as a PDF file? We don’t have Microsoft Office on our computer, and we have never been able to open documents like these. Thank you.

I’ve added the file to Zuma’s original post.

I use these photos in my “Intro To Geocaching” presentation.

    These are from This Cache.

It took me 2 tries. My two grandsons (8 and 10) are part monkey so they knew to look in the tree right away and got it on one try. Why does it take so much longer in the woods?

Sure, log a spoiler log right away 😉

Couldn’t you have encrypted your log?? 😀

Should’ve read all of the logs before looking for this one. I think there were only 2 places left once I finally found it.

Thanks for digging up that old post of mine. I was on a real tear that night. 😉

    The original post.

I’m already sick of winter weather.

99 Polaris XLT w/Fuji 600 Triple, completely stock.

I’ve always purchased the gas “Up Nort”, trying to avoid the reformulated stuff down here. Is there alcohol in it anyway? These days, probably.

After melt-down number 1, the dealer looked at the damage and said it looked like a “cold seize”. They asked if I fired it up and went screamin’ across the lake. This wasn’t the case. The machine had been running for at least 1/2 hour before it seized, and the temps were right around 32 degrees.

I pulled the carb for the offending cylinder, took in the basement. spread out clean white shop rags and set to cleaning it. I didn’t find *anything*. Both the hi-speed & low-speed jets looked clean No dirt or anything else did I find. Once I had it re-assembled (new piston & rings, cylinder cleaned up with a hone), with it running I sprayed carb cleaner all around the clutch-side seal to test for a bad seal. The seal checked out good. This was a season-ending breakdown.

After melt-down number 2 (opposite side cylinder) I went through the same drill, again with nothing definitive to find. This time I needed to get an +0.010 piston as the cylinder needed to be machined out. I did go one step farther and replaced both crank seals. This was a season-ending breakdown.

After melt-down number 3 (clutch side again), cleaned the cylinder with a hone, put in an after-market piston kit and vowed that it would never leave me stranded again. This was a season-ending breakdown.

Did I mention that I was still mad at it?

BTW, is there anybody out there who wants to buy a good-looking good-running snowmobile? (just don’t take it too far from home)

in reply to: Snowmobiling and caching #1918015

I’m mad at my snowmobile. Even though I’ve been meticulous about maintenance it has left me stranded no less than 4 times since it was new in 1999.

    – Flat-smooth trail, 25MPH, front axle broke.
    – Freshly groomed (but soft) RR Grade, 45MPH, seized clutch-side cylinder.
    – Lake Crossing (very cold) 55MPH, seized opposite-side cylinder.
    – RR Grade (very cold) 50MPH, seized clutch-side cylinder again (ended the season last year with this beauty).

I haven’t renewed the registration for this year, and I’ve dropped most of the insurance on it.

I’ve attempted sno-mo caching only once way up in the UP: Log Entry

We stepped off of the trail and were immediately up to our waists, with 0.2 miles to go. We enjoyed the view (from the trail) then headed back.

I’ve been collecting them on my kitchen floor. The wife is getting really sick of walking around them.

    (just kidding)
