I must confess….The first travel bug I came across, I removed the tag from the actual item and just took the tag. After some prompting from my wife, I went back and got the whole thing. A close call, but I didn’t know at first what to do with it either. I think that a laminated tag attached to the bug explaining it in very clear verbage would help keep the mortality rate down.
Okay, I’m a little slow. How do you get the ability to post pictures in the WGA photo album?
So, Star_Wolf14, did you make it out geocaching? What did you think? The weather on Mother’s day was really lousy.
Okay. Thanks to this thread, and some generous people that I work with, I now have a PDA (somebody’s old one that still worked) and know pretty well how to get cache information into it. I would be willing to share the details / downloads witn anybody else who wants to do this. All I have to say regards to paperless Geocaching is: It is *really* *really* *really* cool. I used it at the campout and on a couple of other caches and it worked out better than I could have imagined. My advice: Ask around for an old used one. Chances are somebody somewhere has one sitting in the bottom of their desk drawer that they are no longer using. Thanks to everybody who contributed to this thread.
Two more questions: Do you think there will be any use for one of these at the campout this weekend? For geocaching, do most people do as Cheesehead Dave has and use Plucker, or do they use the E-book format?
Following Cheesehead Dave’s advice, using GPX Spinner and Plucker, 500 caches consumed a little bit more than 1 Meg of space.
The III has 2 Megs of memory. The IIIc has 8 Megs of memory. I will only be using this for paperless caching. Is 2 Megs going to be enough? How many different cache descriptions will fit in 2 Megs? In 10 Megs?
I have the chance to get a Palm III or a Palm IIIc, each for the same price. Which would be best?
I’m heading that way now!
