I agree with you 100% that if you can’t afford it don’t have it. I have had one major event so far that cost about $150 to pull of and yes, people were MORE than wonderful about donating. I never did mentioned to any of them, the amount I spent. For me it was the fun of having the event.
So why is it that we charge for classes??? Well.. I guess the way I see it… and this is ONLY an oppinion, is that ya get what ya pay for. If it’s a learning experience and there are minimal costs incured, then let it be known before hand and NOT an.. “Oh by the way.. it costs $___ for me to offer this to you.”
True, if you can’t afford to hold the event, then don’t!! But… then those who are knowledgeable in the areas of which classes are based, well… they sure the heck are not going to be holding numerous classes around areas and having to pay for it themselves. Unless they are lucky enough to find places that don’t charge fees. So…if those giving the classes can’t or shouldn’t charge, then they are not going to hold classes and where will that get this sport and the new cachers getting involved?? Let me tell ya, for those who are not paperless yet. A good paperless class has a poopload of info and quite technical.
I’m really NOT trying to be a B (rhymes with witch) about this. Just tired of having square marks on my forehead from banging my head on my keyboard.
Now that I beat that ugly horse one last time, I have a couple of questions to ask and I am NOT asking them sarcasticlly. These are heart-felt questions/concerns. I am going to send the questions over to the “Suggestions” Section, since I don’t want to throw this thread off topic too far!!
I will add the link after I get them posted. Thanks!!
Well I guess for me to find someplace FREE to hold my classes, I’ll have to invite people to my home.
There is charge to use the local library room, the local cafe with wi-fi requires minimum purchases, the senior center charges for a room and doesn’t even have internet access, my work charges for outsider clubs, etc to utilize rooms.
So looking for a place to have a class, I would rather choose one that is not-for-profit, nature related and open on weekends, than trying to work in a space with the public walking through. We have limited resources in this area and spending time trying to find a decent place would take quite a while.
Now that a point has been made numerous times and have we beaten one butt ugly horse to DEATH, can we get onto OTHER important issues???
Bump!
Got prizes set up and still working on more.. also some give aways for kids 12 and under. Slowly getting everything in place. Sigh up…. gonna have a fun day! Using the Nature Center as the shelter. plenty of room in there. Facilities on lacation too!!
Hope to see you there!!
Bump! Still plenty of room!! Sign up soon!

Have to agree with you pcfrog. There are some great caches waaaaay up north in the state, but not very many will go for them or visit the area, therefore these can get nominated but most likely NOT be chosen. Logs will be far and few between for finds. The cachers who do log them we may see to be “Out-of-staters” visiting the minimally populated area (minimally populated by people and caches).
So, does this mean people should NOT plant caches in these remote places???? No… just really doubt they will ever get chosen unless there is an event up in the area. How to resolve this… I don’t have any ideas at this time… nope…but something to ponder.
(Edited `cause I hit the enter button before I finished my thoughts…ooops!)

Been there..done that! Sometimes it is more fun and challenging. Unless you find out the coords are waaaaaay off. If two of us go out without info, one looks at the site for micro and small and the other looks for the larger. get in a mind set and it really helps……….sometimes LOL
Though I have never met you in person (I don’t think), I have heard the caching ID frequently. I send you my best of wishes and the strongest of prayers in that you may feel better. I don’t think there are caches around this area of yours but if there are some I can get to, I’d be happy to to help out.
Though you will not be participating in the sport, you will continue to remain a member of the WGA family. I hope you can at least continue to paricipate on the forums or just take some time to read though some of our silliness, in hopes it will bring a smile to your face.
Huggs!!
Anne
Thanks everyone!! Working my way to 700 so I can easily reach 1000 by the end of May. Heading to GeoWoodstock armed Wisconsins finest Women cachers, to create the attack team, Team B.A.B.E.

yup.. Magellan here too! Let me know though!!
It’s so cold that….
– The liquid in my liquid compass is frozen.
– I had to use an ice pick to get one of Marc_54140’s WCC micro’s out of place, only to have the container shattered in my hands when I tried to open it. (Just kidding Marc)
– Even a pencil won’t write in a log book
– Camo Duct tape won’t stay stuck to my new container (now THAT’s cold).
– I got my tongue stuck to an ammo box, after trying to breath on it to thaw it and get it open… “I’m Ota doh… Weewee I am”
– I’ve resorted to staying home & looking for caches in the cat little box. (Ok THAT was uncalled for… but I’m bored, over tired & I got the giggles ROFLMBO)
That was fun…..Now what??!!

Should be an awesome ski run for the NorthWoods get-together. Took a look at the 10 day forecast…hope they aren’t right. It is suppose to be about 36 up in those parts. A bit too warm for waxless skis. GREAT for caching though. Heard there is a Sauna there….any chances there is a Hot Tub on the property too????
