Thanks for all the input on the spell checker stuff. When I write more lengthy posts, I do the cut and paste from WORD….but……have to admit….I’M LAZY SOMETIMES! LOL On short posts, as this one, I just type, pray and hope for the best!! ROFLMBO!!
Waahoo!! 500!! A good feeling to be well on your way to 1000 isn’t it!!??!! Guess I better get moving, you’ll be passing me by in now time.
Great to FINALLY meet you Mike. Enjoyed meeting some really FUN newbies too. Worth the 1hr 40min drive. My butt is draggin’ this morning, not having gotten to sleep till about midnite!! LOL Oh well… a cachers gotta do what a cachers gotta do! Total of 28 for Sunday. Got to see some wonderful areas around time. Lots of miles on the car, but well worth it.

I invite the candidates to reply to the following question below.Geocaching celebrated its 5 year anniversary this last year. Where do you see the WGA as it celebrates the 10th year of geocaching and how do we get there?
I left this one for last for a couple reasons- one I had to get ready for the Geocaching 101 class and two it was something I wanted to take some time to think about before I posted. I’m with everyone else on this one… it’s a tough question.
In 10 years, I see the WGA having a solid relationship with the DNR: one of trust, accountability and respect on both parts. I see greater physical interaction with the department, utilizing key WGA board members as liaisons. To obtain this outcome, we (the WGA) could, more so, assist with the education of concerned community members, the DNR’s present & future members and other involved county & state divisions.
In 10 years I see the possibility that Wisconsin grow into one of the most populous states for caches. Having many more cachers around the world, an interesting twist for the Dept of Tourism to utilize is the bragging rights for the state. It would be awesome to think that the WGA could assist in the tourism industry of the state.
Are these far fetched ideas??? Maybe…maybe not! Without some sort of mission, vision, goal or dream such as these, what would the purpose of an awesome association, like the WGA, be?
On a much more farfetched note……I see geocaching as a competitive sport in the Olympics for the year 2018. Hey…Tug of War was a competitive sport from 1900-1920 and now we have snowboarding. Who says it can’t happen??!! All the best competitors would come out of Wisconsin… of course!!
Oh yeah & 2 thumbs up for that party thing for a 10 yr anniversary!!
Anne
Sure… but if I don’t know HOW to spell it HOW can I look it up?? One of those things that has baffled me since I was a kid… oh wait.. I AM still a kid!! LOL
Thaaaaaaanks Jeff!!
Thanks for the leaving the option to edit. Any chance of rigging up Spell check?? LOL Ok, that’s pushing it I guess. Hey.. a bad speller HAS to ask!!
I faxed our reg in yesterday, so as long as mother nature behaves!!!!
You SURE you don’t need us to bring anything??

Brochures are good. Rather then us printing up a bunch, it might be nice to at least design some nice materials which could be downloaded from our website. Members giving presentations might find it easier to download a few pages for handout.Maybe someone needs a computer projector and doesnt have one. Would having a project available for loan to presenters be beneficial?
Would having a handful of inexpensive gps units available for loan be useful?
Maybe a nicer banner or and some sort of presentation displays?
I love the ideas of having things available for people to borrow, but the hard part is picking them up. I guess I would not mind taking a drive to Milwaukee or some place within an hr+ to pick items up, but some people might not be able to do that. So, to think out loud with you….Wonder how we could make things readily available for everyone to utilize?? Hmmm
As for brochures…love `em. I made one up to use at the OwlFest at which we had a display of caching “STUFF” so people could learn about the sport, etc. I would be MORE than happy to let others view it to see if it’s something they could use. It “AIN’T” fancy, but helpful.
Congrats on 4th place Jeff, with the Sub Series. Someday I WILL find that bonus. LOL Had a lot of fun doing the series and will NEVER forget the USS Lamprey. I went there….hmmm.. “7” times before I found that one!! LOL

I wonder if it would be helpful to have a forum for “presenters” to exchange ideas and information. What works, what didn’t work, what to say, what not to say. Learn from each other’s success. We have several PowerPoint’s available for download that various members have created. It might be good to have everyone submit their PowerPoints as a resource pool for anyone giving a class.
Those of you who are making these presentations might event want to make a checklist of different things to include in the presentation.
Lastly, I think it would be nice for the WGA to back you and provide other resources if needed.
A forum for presentations…that would be an awesome idea. I, unfortunately, am not lucky enough to own a laptop. I have created Power Point presentations in the past though, to be used for work related inservices. So, I have the old fashioned Handouts and a wipe board.
I feel so antiquated
Having the forum would allow those of us who present, to gather new ideas, yet have the freedom to design our own presentations based on the need of the class.
Nifty Idea!!
Congrats!! Get the GPSr out early for the lil one.
My bet…first word is “Cache” LOL
Oops forgot to give the link… makes it a little easier for ya! There will be the opportunity to seek out 17 hides.
http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=41f5f5ba-5a5a-47b9-9c47-4a8dc97b06c0Welcome to the sport. The finds get easier as you go. don’t do what I did though. I didn’t understand the difficulty ratings when I first went out and later found I was attempting a 5 on difficulty and 4 on terrain. 500+ caches and I have YET to find THAt one LOL
If you can make it up from Milwaukee to Two Rivers, there will be a number of cachers who can help you and give you ideas and suggestions!
