Ammo Can – Durable, usually leak-proof and doesn’t get up and walk away on 4 legs. If it does…I DON’T want to meet that animal!!!
Traditional – Micros are fun, but it gets more interesting when larger items find creative hiding spots.

Location is awesome. I love seeing new and unusual things, but when the locations are far and few between, a great hide can make up for it.

Magellan – Ok… odd person out!! Always have been a little odd anyway LOL Magellan only because that’s what I started with and still use. Reviewing the Lowrance (though not an option here) I saw some wonderful features. Would like to own one of each someday!!

Cachemate or Plucker – don’t use either at this time (do everything the HARD way yet), but have been introduced to GSAK and think I will REALLY like!

Lavern – She’s outgoing, daring adventurous and always willing to try new stuff. She’s not afraid to fail, or to be picked on. When she falls she gets right back on the old proverbial horse.

Squiggy – He makes me smile. He is a lot like Lavern in that he tries and fails and gets right back up again. He tries to be a leader and is not very often successful, but that doesn’t stop him.

DNF – If I have given a good search and tried everywhere, coming up empty handed… sure…give it a DNF. If I look for just a minute or so, short on time, then I at least give it a second try. Then, if still no find, I list the DNF. It’s a great tool for the cache owner. If no one bothers to ever put down a DNF, it can look as if no one has been visiting the cache and its owner might then pull, what can be an excellent hide.

Single – I really enjoy a good single with a nice walk. P&H’s are fun when I’m out driving around and want a quick cache. Multi’s are fun too, but I don’t do a lot of them. Love one that gives me a great mental and physical workout (Walla-hi comes to mind)

Virtuals – SURE!!! If its something interesting, educational or unusual. Gotta enjoy `em to some degree, especially going to a place like Washington DC. In town, it’s ALL they have!!

Log event temps or not – I personally log the finds, but it’s for my personal count. I highly respect the decision of the cacher who chooses not to log them. A cacher has to do what they need to do, to accomplish their goals. It should NOT be the decision of and one person or group, to totally eliminate the opportunity of CHOICE!!

Why Not – If it’s not illegal, immoral, and injurious or life threatening…….WHY NOT!!!

Is it about the numbers? This goes along with the freedom to log or not log event temps. It all depends on the individual cachers goals. I enjoy watching my numbers go up, up, up, though I highly respect a cacher or team, such as Team HunnyBunnies, for choosing NOT to log temps!!

I LOVE color so picking one is difficult. I have always thought of myself as a RED person, which sounds so aggressive. After checking out that site Bill posted and knowing I chose some passive, less aggressive and more calming answers, I still came out RED. So… RED it is.

I have fire when it’s needed, passion for things I believe in, excitement in new and unusual thing to learn and teach. I am not afraid of people yet I place myself in solitude though out in the open, when my world gets frazzled. Nothing better than a 5 mile walk to think things through, before I speak. I’m accepting and learn from constructive criticism, but EXPECT those who GIVE IT, be able to TAKE IT back!!

RED…the color which represents Fire and Desire yet the color which represents Love. Not love for oneself but for all creatures who willingly accept it unselfishly.

    {Ask my Dog…. He’ll tell ya about that last part. He gets my fire a lot yet accepts me for who I am and what I give him LOL}

I’m with you Bec.. 7 is hard.

“Creativity to help shape Wisconsins Geocaching Future.”

That only took me 1/2 an hr LOL

in reply to: First cache #1741165

You all summed it up. I always average for at least a few minutes and if it’s a really icky day out (heavy cloud cover) I go back a couple times 7/or on a really nice day and average again.!!

If I hide in a thick area (heavy foliage) I walk to a clearing and back to the cache a couple times and average each time.

Hope it helps, good luck and congrats on the first cache placement.

    Careful……it gets addicting!

I saw that when I was benchmarking other sites like http://www.alacache.com When I post a topic, it asks if you want to start a poll. KEWL idea! Not sure what a site like that would entail, but I have seen a few of them out there that are similar.

    Like the poll thing!!

For this class, I was asked to be geared towards HOW to use the GPSr and throw in fun stuff to do with it, so they get a 2fer! LOL I am NOT getting too heavily involved in HOW it works, but a review & giving them info and sites to visit for more info. Each class can be modified based on the need. That’s the kewl thing.

200 a month??? OMG I can’t even imagine. You guys are gonna KILL me in Texas for sure. I better go into training!! 6 days of caches with Wisconsins top women cachers, addiction x 4… yup…I’m gonna die!!

in reply to: Beating the Geocache Addicition #1760789

The addiction is not over…just shifted over a bit is all. For me…it has more to do with the distances of caches now. I have to get a game plan together then go out for the day. When I go… I GO!! Try to get 20-30 in.

I am sure my hubby is thinking… “will it ever stop” LOL Nope!! He doesn’t go with, except if on a trip and we do stuff along the way..AND if they are easy or a virtual.

so.. I would say it’s not the addiction has ceased but more that the newness has worn off a bit.

    I second that BQ!!

Great point cathunter. Deleting the topic is frustrating and just becasue one person or that person posting the topic , doesn’t care for the turn of events, it IS important to keep the communication flowing.

    But……

PLEEEEASE don’t get rid of the editing option. I am the worlds WORST at spelling and for some reason when I proof read it before I post.. it pops up on the board with typos LOL Now how can that be??? Must be a computer thing. Otherwise…. Keep the topics going.

Of course there is the issue of topics repeated in several catagories. The maybe put a lock on it and a note that conversation has moved to such `n such a post. Does that make sense????? I can be notorious for talking in circles if I am over tired.

    {any typos?? }

ok…now I have an added note. Instead of making another post.. I can just edit.

in reply to: Suggestion on Moderators for catagories! #1744458

Thanks you guys!! Always important to weight each side and good to just toss out ideas. Heck.. i was not sure if that was even thought of already. LOL

Ideas may come and go, but the insight from them stays with a person, for a long long time.

Thanks for the feedback and for doing so, so gallantly … greatly appreciate.

Side note: I don’t know if a lot of people have voted or not or if they have voted FOR me or not, but I feel its important for people to get a little understanding of who I am and that I am not one to just sit back and suck my thumb LOL Tossing an idea out there isn’t going to hurt anything, let alone someones choice to choose me. If anything I would hope it would help in their decision making…..ok that sounded bad. LOL NO I am NOT doing it to win votes. Just offering ideas & input is all. It’s who I am!!!!

Thanks for the insight…point well understood!! I recind my suggestion. Dumb idea I guess LOL

PCfrog, I agree that being the moderator of a catagory and getting slammed would be tough, but that’s what I would think the rest of the Board would be there for….I hope.

    Great feedback!!! Thanks bunches!

I have a presentation this weekend… aka a classevent for Geocaching 101 and learning about the GPSr itself. I enjoy teaching and I am hoping to do more presentations or have a table at local events, such as our OwlFest, to promote and educate more people about the sport. We are lookin at almost 40 people incuding several veteran cachers. I’m all for pesentations!!

Have tri-fold board, class handout and Geocaching/WGA self-made flyers…..will travel!!
