Man…100 sure does feel good doesn’t it!! Good luck on the next 100!!
Way to go… keep on caching!! On to the 1500 mark now
Whao.. like part I was heavy enough!!
I like having everything available, that way each person/team can do as they please and count as they please. Kinda like when I mentioned to Team HoneyBunnies that they had more than they thought. I was worried that they didn’t realize they could count each find on their first event, so I tossed that out there. Was neat to hear about how they tossed the ideas around but then opted to take just ONE cache for the entire event. The option was there.
On occasion I may hear the frustration of cachers saying that teams split and go out individually and find caches, but then count them as a TEAM!! Hey……Whatever!! More power to them. Single cachers, I am sure, might feel that absolute frustration with that. So??? Find a team partner and do the same. I have thought about myself and Digital_Dan. We live about 90 miles apart, cache apart, cache together and are a team but he counts his numbers and I count mine and NOT as a team. Could we change that and combine them?? Sure, but man that would be one heck of a time going back and resubmitting. Get worn out just THINKING about that. So…. we do what we do, others do as they please.
For Digital_Dan and myself…sure we compete against EACH OTHER for numbers. We also compete against each ohter in states cached in. I do counties cached in, we both do types of caches & GeoCoins we get our hands on, I do TB’s moved and Dan does 4:1 Singles to Multis. So, having the availability for a website to do all that for us is WAY kewl!! (With the exception of counties)
Basically, OUR numbers mean something to US!! If we want to compete against other… we can do that too.
Another 1 cent!! Hey.. now that’s 2 cents and I really AM broke after the holidays! LOL

Could everyone just look at their own caches and say:1- Did I bring them to a special place?
2- Was the hunt unique in some way?
3- Is there historical, social or human importance associated with the cache?
4- Did I challenge the hunter in some way?
5- Was the hide clever or camo in a new way?
If the answer is yes, then these caches are of the type that should be out there.
Saw this topic the other nite, but it was late and looked a bit too heavy duty for a blonde brain, like mine, to comprehend at a late hour. So… I waited.
When I put my caches out, I think about those very items listed above. Sometimes I get caches out there then re-think them, wondering if they are too easy or in a dumb place. Then I remember that this sport is NOT just adults and we need some that the lil ones can enjoy too. I figure, if they are at least at a place that would be of interest, then that’s my main objective for placement. Sure they are easy for the general cacher, but for those little ones, I KNOW they have a very good chance of finding them.
I also consider the type of cache. Again, I would LOVE to have larger ones with all kinds of goodies in them but some of the areas I bring people to have limited availability for such a cache of larger stature, but I really would like them to visit.
My Fishin’ Hole series always brings me back to those questions. Talk about limited area for placement!!! Some of them are postage stamp size and almost impossible to make a hide, but I did it. Sure, some are VERY simple, but that’s ok I tell myself. The KIDS will enjoy it and the adults, I HOPE, enjoy the visit in general.
While caching in another state, I began coming across cache after cache after cache that was a “Wal-mart” style hide. Gosh.. it got boring and I started to get VERY frustrated and rather bored. After a little down time, I began to think, “Maybe a younger child placed this and it IS exciting for them, or maybe a new cacher unsure of where to hide.” I began accepting what was hide and appreciated what the cache owner did as well as the Numbers racking up.
Oh yeah……it’s NOT about the numbers {{{giggle}}}
What it comes down to, in my lil pea-brain, is that I am not one to judge what others feel is a good or exciting hide. Good for them, they’re getting out and doing it!!! Lame in one mans mind is awesome in another. Yup…like that one mans junk, one mans treasure comment…perfect analogy!
My 1 cent!! Too broke after the holidays to offer 2 cents, as long as it MAKES cents.. I mean sense!!!

Hmmm… I had my very FIRST dose of Russell, after yahoo messaging BQ on Yahoo. BQ was my first and ONLY name on my caching ID yahoo messenger, but all of a sudden I have another familiar name ringing me up…”HI… what part are you from?” From that moment the conversation with Russell went into a small competion of shear silliness as did the one with BQ and I think they both learned more about me than they bargained for. LOL
Hey you two.. I got to bed WAY later than I wanted to that nite. LOL
Russell is quite the sincere, silly character and a pleasure to chat with. BTW Russell, I’ll get that LIST I promised ya ROFLMAO
Will be quite the interesting adventure to get a chance to cache with Russell as well as BQ….`cause She’s my idle {{{giggle}}}
