Same place I found em lostby7. Wow .. great minds DO think alike!! LOL
Wahoo.. I’m hanging around with you two more often. You two are really kicking us some dust on those back caching roads!! Congrats!!
I’ll have a kettle of cream of chicken soup made special, in your honor!! LOL
Huggles!! Anne
I love the outdoors. Being one with nature is the best. It is my time to think, when I cache alone, it is my time to build friendships, when I cache with others. It’s great exercise no matter who I’m with. Sometimes I set a goal for finds…. sometimes I just go. I appreciate what others have done out there, taking time, effort and money, to place these items so myself and all of us can enjoy it.
It is a time to see places and things most people won’t see in their lifetime, because they probably don’t even realize these places are there and often in the own back yards.
It is a more fulfilling way to spend a vacation, rather then doing ALL touristy things. Again… often times taking me to places I would not have seen otherwise. Hubby and I enjoy the really old cemetaries, looking at the oldest birth dates, etc, pondering what life was like back then. To see out-of-the-way places and unique finds.
My list goes on and on. Most of all I have to say it is a chance to meet down to earth people, of all ages, who have similar interests. I have made some wonderful friends with so many of you….especially the group at my Up Nord Event. Cachers, for the most part are very special people and I am very greatful for having bought that ONE copy of Wisconsin Trails magazine, with that little article about Geocaching!
Luv ya guys!!
Anne
Since you found the PARTS, sure….put a find on it. In my situation it was a little bit different. For “You Can’tBe Serious” I posted a note that I found what I believed to be the pencils and cap to the container, contacted the owner to let him know, and being remnents I then asked if it was ok the take a “FIND” on it. He varifed what I found and gave to OK.
Hot Darn we’re good!!! Wisconsinites that is……or is that Wisconsonians???
Congrats and Way To go!! You are burning up the trails!! Keep up the searching!!

Yeah… Wisconsin Rocks!! Cause we are Extra sharp… and that ain’t just da cheese I’m talking about!!
Congrats!! Now will ya help me get my darn PlamPilot to work!!?? LOL The downfalls to buying from eBay I guess. Guess I’ll jsut have to hang with you and do my caching
When I ran a search for a GPSr with APRS capabilities, all I came up with is the Garmin Rino 110 (about $195)or Garmin Rino 120 (about $270) which have APRS-like capabilities. Go to garmin.com type these into search and see what ya think. Other than that I came up empty handed.
Hope that helps!
Sounds like a good approach to me. I often times tell people:
“It’s a hi-tech treasure hunt with a Global Positioning Unit. I get coordinates from geocaching.com, with clues, then go out and search on my time off.”
Sometimes I’ll do a little mock demo and tell them “Lets say I download some coords and it brings me to this location by following what the GPSr points to. I then watch til it tells me I am “X” feet away or follow the coords as they close in to the ones given. Once I am within so many feet I start looking in obvious and maybe NOT so obvious places. If there is a clue, I might use that…”
I think giving them the info from Geo. Univ. is a great help but doing a makeshift find like that, helps them understand a little bit better…..sometimes!! It then spurs questions galore!! LOL It is what I have used in the past.
Like you mentioned though…getting them out to actually FIND one is ideal…..get `em hooked and reel `em in ROFLMBO
Hope this helps.. just an idea!!!
PS If all else fails, tell it like some friends of mine… “You spend $200+ on a gadget to find junk in the forest!!!”

Sounds like you did an excellent job, and as Ms WISearcher states you DO represent the WGA, since you are a member here. When Digital_Dan & I did a Geocaching exhibit/demo at OwlFest at Woodland Dunes, earlier this month, we told people we were reps/members of the WGA.
We peaked alot of interest in some and a little interest in many. Since then, I, too, have been asked to offer a class in the winter months, at Woodland Dunes. I am not sure where you are located, though probably far away from me, but if there is some interest from people in the Manitowoc, TR/Sheboygan area… tell them to watch the event listings!
Otherwise… GO FOR IT!! … have a lot of fun, share your adventures, funny/frustrating/ head-scratching experiences {I have had a few of those lately}and I am sure you could find others, from our fine group, to help ya out!!
