Well since I live in Oshkosh, and work in Fondy, having them in the same region makes it easier for me….so I declare it be that way. Now it is law says the all powerful me.

Whew. I don’t feel so bad for setting up my pocket queries, and route caches already also….

So it bad that I have all my camping gear spread around the living room ready to be packed two weeks early though?

After over a year with my Garmin Colorado, I will NEVER go back. caching is soooooooo simple. A bit more pricey that I think you were looking at.

Well done! Now how many of those have had people stop by while you are standing on the side of the road, and ask if you need help?

    This might work.

My wife is a Hawaii nut. She lived there when she was younger. A few years back, I found a few places in Hawaii, that would airmail a fresh hawaiian lei. WAYYYY better than your typical “flowers” for not much difference in price, and the place I ordered from wrapped them in local newspaper, so it was even extra fun to read!

Now I know this won’t work as well if you don’t have an island nut on your hands, but I also have sent them to my sister when she graduated college, and a professor friend when she retired, and they have always been a HUGE unique hit.

If anyone figures it out, they would be sorely tempted to keep the idea for themselves though…. 8)

I like the idea of a light green also.

But will there be the location “dot” on the state outline in the final art? Maybe just a small blue star to match the blue in the design? I know that was something a lot of people were looking for.

And a really nice disc golf course as well!! I can’t make the run, but I’ll try to find the info to make a donation.

in reply to: Garmin Oregon #1900010

Late to the party…. but as a Colorado owner for over a year now, I can almost laugh at how long it takes the 60CSX friends of mine keep up with me on a cache run. I would love the touch screen Oregon, but the wheel does just fine, and I can navigate and enter co-ords faster than any other garmin out there.

The only negative, is you can’t move a location on multis, you have to make a new waypoint, but all that takes is a two second hold of a button to mark, then you edit the co-ords. pretty smooth.

At at the camp out last year, the unit was too new for GSAK to work well with it, and I couldn’t load any of the temps…. but that’s not the units fault.

Besides, ANYTHING from Colorado is bound to be the best!! (says the born and raised Coloradoan)

But I bet the Garmin Colorado will come with a bottle opener built in, and pre loaded waypoints to all the bars…

in reply to: Tick Removal #1906586

My nephew picked up a tick on his ear at the last Camp out in Governor Dodge. I told him if he didn’t have that dang hippie shag haircut that is popular with the “youngins” right now, we would have seen it earlier….he still has long shaggy hair, but he will be checking his ears and scalp MUCH more carefully this year!

The kid is fearless, but he sure does scream when he sees an animal burrowing into his flesh…

One more vote for the best way to get rid off ticks, is to keep them off in the first place….wear the right clothes, and check your friends, and always remember…

    WINTER CACHING FTW!!

Off the top of my head I think the Country Inn is closest, and also my recommendation as the chain I stay at the most while away from home for work.

in reply to: 2009 Geo-Campout T-Shirt Logo Ideas Sought #1904527

I very much like the guy walking off of the logo.

I really am growing quite attached to the new logo, and want to see it proudly displayed on the shirt this year. The walking off the edge of the W looking at a GPSr is PERFECT for the location as well, since that could easily happen at High Cliff!

I wonder if we could add a tent on top of the “A” to draw in the “camping” theme some are looking for….

Anyway, those are my thoughts, if it helps any!

Yeah, but with Seldom Seen involved…we will be lucky if all the temps aren’t 40 stage multi-puzzle-offset-series caches about obscure Finnish immigrants from the 1750’s that require a slide rule and a stud finder.

We could have used some more people like you to keep some easy ones in there for us simpletons…

    wait a tick…

RSpalsh40 is involved in the Gypsies at the Gates series….Never mind, you make my brain hurt too!
