Will do! I think aiming for a start around the same time as the WGA campout would be a good idea, that would give folks a good 6-7 weeks?
What got me thinking about starting one up for the WGA was a friend of mine who dropped of a couple when he was in Germany. once for each family member, and tried to get them to race home.
I like the points gathering concept, as it is much easier as a “helpful participant” to log a few caches in a day, or take along the traveler to a CITO event, rather than move it long distances.
Of course, points would be awarded for distance as well, but it helps to average out those that don’t move very fast.
I think a specific theme for the racers would be fun too once we decide on the format. All have to be wheeled vehicles for the race home concept, or all need to be cheese related, or some such nonsense to add to the fun.
Don’t know yet! I figured I would see if there was interest before I got too deep in the details.
My first thoughts;
1)Start in the same starting cache, then earn points based on number of caches stopped in, total distance traveled, events attended by trackable, extra points for being Mega events of course, etc. Most points after a set time wins!!
2)Similar concept, but set a certain goal for each racer to obtain (be logged in x different counties or states, be logged at a CITO event, etc.)
Witha checklist style tag to travel with, first to get a whole tag checked off wins.3)Find a willing participant in a far off land, or far off state at least (I know a couple) collect all the designated racers, ship them to said far away place, let them race back to a local designated cache. (probably a finish line cache that would be created just for the race) First one back wins!!
Either way, it would be a fun time I think!
I’d be in for a 2.5% split as well, if anyone else out there wants.
Having never placed an ammo can sized cache before, having two dozen in the house would give me GREAT incentive to get out there and get hiding.
(48 would get me a wallop in the head from the wife…)
I like that one BakRdz!
Looks GREAT on the brown too!
Yes it WAS in the shape of the state last year. Sorry I wasn’t more clear on that.
The thing I didn’t like about it last year, was it felt like such a nice image, but I didn’t think it ‘worked” for me in the state outline.
I think a state outline coin, should have lakes, terrain type features, stuff like that. The focus of the coin should be the shape, and features of the state.
Coins with elegant art work don’t rely on the shape gimmick to get the attention, and can be freed to explore new concepts of space.
Saturday was our first time out after a long busy winter…and we found two ticks.
We were commenting on how nice it was this time of year with no lake flies to contend with…forgot all about early season ticks.
Those look good! Once again the WGA board makes a good choice! Now where can I pre-order my set?

If plagiarism is the sincerest form of flattery, then two WGA members should feel quite complimented. This isn’t for submission, but rather because I was bored.

love this idea, it was one of my favorites last year
I liked it a lot too! But I think it would look better on a different shape than the state outline. Such a nice image, crammed in the outline looks weird to me, but otherwise, it’s awesome.
I like to listen to geocaching podcasts while caching…
But I reserve these for urban environments.
I like the “silence” of being in the woods too much to ruin it with headphones.
I like to track, and display stats, because I enjoy them. (emphasis on the “I”)
I LOVE to see other FTF logs, milestones, maps. It;s is one of the great parts of the hobby that i can enjoy, while chained to a desk, or stuck inside during a snow storm.
Anyone who tells someone else that they can’t be proud of their accomplishments, or how to track them is a plain fool. Especially in your case. You guys have always been humble, and your logs are a joy to read.
Photos are down for me as well. So it’s not just you.

Did I miss anything? 😛
If your next design could include a silhouette of an overweight guy reaching behind a guard rail…it’d be perfect!
I like the latest one the best! The line on the back sounds much cleaner. I like the Compass more than the G, for this design. And I like the canoe, because though I don’t canoe… I REALLY don’t run, so it’s a step in the right direction.
I am SOOOO hoping I can FINALLY make it this year.
Thanks for keeping this event going to keep giving me hope to make one sooner or later.
