    Thanks for the offers!

Michael, glad to see you are still up and kicking.

Someone in our “party” is bringing a canoe. Hopefully we make it!

I have taken a little break from geocaching, but now am trying to get back into it. Back into “caching shape” before the summer Cache Ba$h. It has ben a while since I have been on the forums. It is amazing how the same conversations come up over and over again.

My reason for chiming into this conversation is that I also feel very strongly on this topic. I LOVE PUZZLE CACHES. I LOVE SOLVING PUZZLE CACHES. It may be ego, but I like being able to sign my name to something that only a handful or less have done. That is part of what keeps me going in geocaching.

Signing my name to a puzzle log, after doing no work for it, seems cheap to me. I could go on and on, and yes, you can play the game as you want. Communication with the cache owner is the most important. A simple question like, “I am leading a puzzle tour, can I include your puzzle in the list?” If the answer comes back, no, then…(as previously stated) everyone can play the game as they wish. Respect That!

The Bugline Trail in Northern Waukesha County has 50+ caches and the surrounding area has another 200 within a few miles. A 100+ day has been done by quite few cachers here.

I might be a little biased since I have 150 active caches in this area of which you could also probably do 75-100 in a long day.

Long days are not a problem. Thank you so much. This is the kind of stuff I am looking for.

I am planning ahead. Looking at spring time or summer.

It is interesting to see how this is shaping up so far. What I see being favorited is:

    Trying to change that. 😀

I don’t often write on the forums. But I would say that I LOVE the new favorite idea. I agree that 1:10 is a bit much as I have 155 votes. But I proudly put my first favorite to Pirate Pete and look forward to giving out more favorites.

It is just another possible way of sorting caches.

Thank you to everyone for your help. This is one of the greatest parts about these forums, I knew I would get a great answer.

I still will miss my Megallan, but I will switch over to the “dark side” on the trip. I think Garmin is missing the boat on not letting you better seperate them. Oh well…

You guys are FAR better than the customer service at Garmin, they could only tell me that I need to download them one at a time. Or use their website and download up to 5 WHOLE GEOCACHES A DAY!! Thank you for your generousity.

Thanks again everyone. I am very interested also in the radius thing. It seems odd to me.

in reply to: HELP!!! Garmin eTrex Legend H #1938909

That is what I did. Thanks for the help.

    Two questions still remain-

    1) Can you seperate Geocaches into files?? For example, if I am at the Cache Ba$h and want to keep the new 50 caches from ALL of the caches in West Bend, could I do that?

    2) What is the radius where it will show me caches in my Garmin? Why don’t Texas geocaches show up, and Green Bay caches do??

in reply to: HELP!!! Garmin eTrex Legend H #1938907

    I think I got it.

I was trying to download caches in Texas, and the Garmin must not list them if they outside of a certain mile radius?

I try with some in Green Bay, and they showed up.

Also like that my old Megallan eXplorist let me seperate them into files.

    Oh well…such is life.

Is that radius thing correct?? any Garmin owners??

in reply to: HELP!!! Garmin eTrex Legend H #1938905

Hmmmm….ok. So you have to BUY a Garmin program to put geocaches onto a Garmin product that allows you to find geocaches. That is shady.

    Another reason I AVOID Garmin!!

in reply to: HELP!!! Garmin eTrex Legend H #1938902

There are maps on the GPS…and I do have the USB cord.

in reply to: HELP!!! Garmin eTrex Legend H #1938901

    I don’t have MapSource…I don’t think.

Can’t I just make a Pocket Q and download it through GSAK or EasyGPS or Something!??!

in reply to: HELP!!! Garmin eTrex Legend H #1938900

I see that the geocaches are on the map. But they are NOT under “Find”-“Geocaches” OR “Find”-“Waypoints”

    FRUSTRATING!!!

Being a math teacher, I also voted for basic math. When I am out in the field, I don’t want to have to think that hard. Now for at home solves, make it as difficult as you want.
