Simply put… I wouldn’t be running for BOD if I felt that I did not have what it takes!
I consider myself a work horse. When I set my mind at doing something, I make sure it gets done! If I need help getting it done, I am not afraid to ask for help!
I also try to anwer all questions in a timely manner, and for the most part I have.
Brian,
I would most likely write about Outdoor Ethics. I wouldn’t simply write one cache all article, but instead I would break it up and highlight specific information that is relevant in our caching society. I would incorporate both Leave No Trace and Tread Lightly in my articles. As far as how many I would write, I would write at least 4 each year.
I feel that our biggest strength is how we advocate our CITO’s. I feel that giving back to the community is vital in aiding to our growth.
Great question Mathman,
I feel that technology has both helped and hindered geocaching. With all these free caching apps, it has helped geocaching explode to people who would not have normally given this a try. Within the past cpl years, the number of cachers have exploded! The new numbers can be a good thing. However, on the opposite side of things, it does have some downfalls. The main one is log etiquette. All to often, newer cahcers using smart phones tend to leave logs like “.” or “:)”. Yes, technically, it is a legit online log but when they do it on caches where cache owners spent hours and days out of their life to place quality caches for us to find, I feel that thise logs are inadequete.
That is where education comes to play. Educating cachers who use these type of logs can go a long way (if done tastefully). Education is key!
Well, that’s my 2 cents worth on new technology.
Personally, I do use both the handheld gps and my iphone for caching.
A few times I had to attemp to sign a log sheet with a leaf from the ground or poking a tiny hole with a stick if my pen’s ink ran out or I forgot to grab my pen. Either way, I either put that in the virtual log of email the CO.
Education and communication! I feel that this is not only something that the BOD can talk about, but also local experienced cachers can help aid in the understanding of what geocaching is with the local law enforcement.
I agree also
1. Yes, the COTM is still relevant and should be continued.
2. I would propose a COTM End of Year Event. Also, I would propose a Cache of the Year for each region and series.
3. I do not vote as often as I should and I have nominated a few caches for COTM.Are you calling yourself old Tom? 🙂 I really do not think it will change what I do if I am elected as board member.
Coconut Cream is my favorite pie. Pecan is a close second!
Personally, one place in WI that is in my bucket list is Madeline Island. I feel that would be an awesome place to grab a few caches. With the nine caches there, I think that it would be a blast grabbing half one day and half the other day while wetting a line and camping at Big Bay State Park.
I feel that this year, a joint venture between Leave No Trace and WGA would be a perfect marriage at this event. Just having a booth is one thing, but being in the field is another. Being in the field would help aid in the Outdoor Ethics committment that we have in our bylaws!
Yes! I feel that it only adds to the fun that WGA offers! Plus, it helps aid in helping out the reviewers on if the cache is actually there or not.
I am signed up, ready to go for the Chili feed. I will have to work on getting a room somewhere for me to stay for the meeting, but with that said, I have that date empty for the meeting!
