Happy 200! ~Cachew and Wicket
Happy cachin’!
Congratulations from Cachew and Wicket! Good to see you at New Glarus Woods, too!
Regarding park admission, you may pick up an hourly sticker for $3.00, a day long sticker for $5.00, or a yearly sticker (good at all WI state parks and forests) for $20.00. [prices are for vehicles registered in WI, out of state vehicles are $3.00, $10.00 and $30.00 respectively].
This really is a great use of park resources. Please respect the land! Remember to Cache In- Trash Out!
I want to thank Ranger Steve here at the Park in advance for his hospitality and enthusiasm for Geocaching!
I’ve had good response from cachers requesting the waypoint files.
I should point out that there are 4 permanent caches included in the list, and these are ones located within the Park or on the Bike Trail only. Several other permanent caches have been placed in the vicinity over the past 3 weeks, and we encourage you to chase them down, too. Please research them as you always do – they are not part of this listing.
CachewThank you, Jeff – and all of the Team Badger members who got this event off the ground! Yes, here is a copy of what I put on the cache listing. This should be a very fun day!
Here are some final notes before the event…The temporary containers range from microcaches to mini-hides. Each container has a codeword inside which you need to copy onto your logsheet. (Please bring your own pen/pencil!)
Somewhere near this location will be a Locationless Cache, too! Details to follow soon.
Cache placement is never far off of the trail – Please respect the area!
This is summertime in Wisconsin and the skeeters are in abundance – Come prepared.
If interested, we can email a file of the coordinates and the logsheet to you – such that you can arrive with all of the waypoints preloaded. Waypoint files are in easyGPS, Garmin and Magellan formats. The logsheet is Excel. Email Cachew at [email protected] and I will reply to you with the files.
We will have a laptop for uploading coordinates as well. We have cord sets for Garmin GPS V and Map76 series, Garmin Etrex series, and Magellan Meridian series. If in doubt, please bring your own cord for upload.
Bring your own food and refreshments. There are stand-up grilles near the shelter if you prefer to cookout. There is a water fountain near the shelter, too. There is a Culver’s in New Glarus.
Did someone say 900? Jeff, I musta been dozin’! Very cool! It’s a pleasure to walk them and hide them with you!
CachewAs a follow up to wzbt03’s note, we have beta-tested (successfully found independently from the hider) 17 caches in and around the park! ~Cachew
I concur with the notion of posting a note. If I never get close enough to look for it, then I haven’t NOT found it! I recently got stopped by high water after a .5 mile hike – and still had .3 miles to go. Posted a note to that effect!
Yep, I saw it! The Linus and Lucy Duo were primed and ready for the finds. Well done and happy hunting!
I’ve tried twice so far. So if I can make to this next expedition, I certainly will!
Linus, Lucy and I were in the vicinity yesterday and checked this out. There is a definite rush about the final location! Now if I could just finish those prerequisites.
Nice cache, Jeff! -
