Ok, we’ll try then.
I’m in Madison when I’m not geocaching! Email me your available weekends. Longer daylight now for after work as well.
~CachewSteve – thanks for doing one of my caches in Madison today. I did the Cold War Legacy cache at Devil’s Lake today: a nice long walk – but there were so many trees that the wind was not a factor. (But it was plenty cold without the wind.) I recommend this new cache.
I like the idea of carrying some of those hand warmers. My dog had a blast, of course.
Thanks, Ken. Yep, the only way that I could think to do a Regular cache was to have the last 10-40 feet be ‘off-road’ and mention that a companion would be needed.
My friend is really intrigued with the hands-on treasure hunt of a Regular cache as opposed to a virtual one. Undaunted, her user name is ‘cacheronwheels’!
Thanks for the quick reply.
JohnCongrats Lil Otter on find #400!!!!
CachewAlthough I have not used it much, Garmin’s TOPO software can help out in steep, wooded terrain – walk the contour instead of up and down the ‘kettle’. The Garmin V software make it easy to switch between these 3 mapping databases. I was amazed to see this software having the individual NAMES of dry washes in the So Cal desert badlands of Anza Borrego. Impressive product.
Steve, I’d save it. I don’t own Metroguide, but I used Roads and Rec with my GPS 12MAP before I got the GPS V – and yes R&R has roads that City Select does not. I noticed this while geocaching in Waterloo, Iowa
Then, of course, there are the famous (some still say infamous) Ken and Robin hideouts. Our Fourth of July finds of New Prospect and Lake by a Lake are my favorites. We also did (3) Ken and Robin virtual caches on July 21 and chased a wild goose in early fall. I?ve been thinking of an expedition out to an Uncharted Island, not seen since last September.
This is all geocaching at its best. But then, there is no such thing as a bad geocaching day! Yes, I too look forward to the upcoming campout and pow wow.
BTW, check out these pictures from my hides, and then visit the cache page: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cachelog_details.asp?ID=19794&L=171314

I looked at my MapSource TOPO and City Select: no trails there – but the park, lakes, contours and side streets outside the park sure are. I’d say that there’s already a whole lot you can pack into these things!
Congratulations. Glad to see that you celebrated by finding some Cachew caches!
Mine is coming April 13: Magnolia (Bluff)
