My parents Beavers2 plan on attending as well. They won’t stay at the cabins but will try to show up for the event.
Since I live in Mountain I will probably show up for the event but not stay at the camp. If you need any help I’m around and could help set things up if you want. Something tells me sweetlife might be able to help as well, (I only say that because I think they are geocrazy!) I would love for more people to find my cache that is placed on the crosscountry ski trails in winter.
I just had to reply to this one. When I first started there was 1 cache within about 50 miles of me, and now there are quite a few and they are really great. I’m a bit of a mover but I live in Mountain now and have been working on getting them all checked off. I even think I might put another one out that you should all watch for because its going to be a winner. There is a little bit of a common “Ground” in a lot of the caches up here and you will find out why they call the town Mountain. My mom and dad just put one in Suring and I sure with there were more in the suring/Gillett area, there seems to be a couple big holes around here with no caches. so maybe on your way up to check us out some of you could drop some new caches off.
These travel bugs sound a bit like what I have been doing. Originally from Wi I moved to seattle two years ago and just a couple weeks ago moved back. I made the trip from seattle to Wi with my dad and a big trailer behind our truck. The trip is really interesting, lots of change in land. From wisconsin woods to flat and rocky to mountains and finally into Washingtons east side fields. I will be keeping an eye on your travel bugs, see if they see anything that I saw on my way over. Good luck.
yes they are my parents and i heard all about their adventure. I have been caching for a little over two years but they hadn’t gotten into it until just recently. Now we talk about caching all the time. Thanks for helping them out. I don’t know what they would have done.
I can’t believe how many caches there are in the area now. I remember when I started I had to drive so far from home to hit any caches. Now I’m way behind in this area. It’s really great to see.
Well I would guess that most of us created our names back when we really hadn’t even cached yet, so we didn’t really know how much it was going to become part of who we are. I created mine back when I was a captain of an ambulance service but I’m not a captain anymore. I even thought of changing it once but wondered if anyone would recognize me.
yeah, that one really bugged me.
I haven’t been there because from the other posts I feel it would be a waste of my time but perhaps I will Just so I don’t have to see it all the time. I don’t even get why it says it is an event cache.

Isn’t that only true for the person hiding the cache in the last county that needs one? Everyone before him can’t apply for the state-wide cache until then as that last county is still missing a cache.
It would mean that if someone needed to cache a county without a cache in it yet then in order to do that they would have to place a cache in that county. So of course once someone has cached every county there would be a cache in every county because they would have put caches in the counties that did not have one. I don’t know if that explained anything.
Of course I’m fine with waiting for every county to get a cache.
Well here was my thinking on the matter. If it counts to hide a cache in the county then there is indeed no need to wait until every county has a cache. When someone hits a county that does not have a cache in it they simply hide one there. I agree with cache cows that it probably won’t lessen the quality of the caches placed since it is much harder and more time consuming to place a cache then it is to find one.
As far as Menominee county goes, I’m not touching it even if the internet does say it is a real county. I might consider a virtual but I don’t know if anyone could get permission from the reservation to actually hide one there. I worked with the forest service on the reservation for awhile and everywhere we went we had to have an escort because we weren’t part of the nation and therefore weren’t allowed to walk in the woods alone. I do think there are a few places open to the public.I was driving alot today and it seems that when I do that my brain starts to work on overdrive. Well I was wondering what we do if the only cache in a county is the cache that the finder placed. I mean like how I am the only one to put a cache in Langlade or Oconto County. How then can I find a cache in that County?
The only problem that I see with having district caches is that then it would require making two trips to any given part of the state. It may be possible for me to cache an entire area of the state in one weekend but then I need to go home get the permission and location to cache the special district cache and then return to that area to actually do it. I’m not totally against that as an idea but it does seem like more of a pain. I ran into that debate with myself when I placed a reward cache.I’m sorry Sbukosky I don’t really understand what you were getting at in that last post. What do you mean by the districts? I agree that locationless caches should not be included and I am ok with virtuals. However I wouldn’t want a virtual to be created at every county seat just to fill the countys that don’t have caches yet. I have faith that we can get a cache in every county without having to go to that extream. I still don’t know about Menominee. Do you guys think it is a county or is it being left out?
I looked at the map for Wisconsin the other day and saw we are getting closer to our goal of having a cache in every county.

I mistakenly posted before that there was also a new one in Marquette County but there isn’t. I was reading it wrong sorry.[This message has been edited by cap kal (edited 06-23-2002).]

Nothing ever really happens up here so I wouldn’t be too shocked you haven’t heard of it. Although last week we were in the papers for a couple of freak motorcycle accidents and a mass murderer. I even read about us in the Milwaukee papers while I was down there
